Lipstick Jungle

ay_link February 10th, 2008

Premiered last thurday, Feb 7th, and I am HOOKED!
I knew it from the first moment I saw its banner on D-Addicts (you know, one of those google ads or whatnot), and I’ve been waiting for a new TV series to get hook-on (it’s been a while since my last, well, American TV series, lol)

First episode was so good. I love all three girls, which I have memorized their character’s names: Wendy, Nico and Victory.
Lipstick Jungle, is a story of three bestfriends, three powerful women who can actually make a difference because they’re women and they all have one thing in common: one heck of a talent, and friggin rich! I like the idea of this already. LOL.

Wendy Healy (played by Brooke Shields), is a successful top executive at Paragon Pictures. She’s married with 3 kids, one daughter and two boys. Her husband is a bum, who has no permanent job, and she’s literally supporting the family. And of course, when the wife is the bread winner in the family, the husband tends to be… bitter. lol. Anyways, at the end of episode 1, the husband asks for a divorce. Ha. Cliche.
But nonetheless, Brooke Shields knocked down the role perfectly. Wendy is my kind of gal already.

Wendy has two bestfriends, Nico and Victory.
Nico Rielly (played by Kim Raver) is also a successful career woman - editor-in-chief of the hot fashion magazine, “Bonfire”. She’s also married with no children. Her husband is a professor at a local university.
Victory Ford (played by Lindsay Price) is the talented fashion designer in her own name, “Victory Ford”, in which at her lastest fall collection, New York Times trashed her line. She relies on her two bestfriends as she tries to pick up the pieces and saves her career. At the same time, a prince charming comes along, asking for a date, which not requested by the prince himself, but his assistant. To her surprise, this man can sweep her off her feet and gives her comfort in times of need. Multi-billionaire, Joe Bennett (Andrew McCarthy) is another reason why I’m hooked on this series. Haha.

So, to those of you, go grab the torrent @ isohunt and watch this series! Tee-hee.
Episode 2 will be airing right on the V-day, February 14th @ 10PM PST.

Cut clip from Episode 1:
Joe Bennett sent a plane to Tokyo to pick up his princess :) SO sweet~

My yesterdays are all boxed up and neatly put away
Every now and then you come to mind
‘Cause you were always waiting to be picked to play the game
But when your name was called, you found a place to hide
When you knew that I was always on your side

Well everything was easy then, so sweet and innocent
But my demons and my angels reappeared
Leavin’ only traces of the man you thought I’d be
Too afraid to hear the words I’d always feared
Leavin’ you with only questions all these years

But is there someplace far away, someplace where all is clear
Easy to start over with the ones you hold so dear
Or are you left to wonder, all alone, eternally
This isn’t how it’s really meant to be
No it isn’t how it’s really meant to be

Well they say that love is in the air, never is it clear,
Try to pull it close and make it stay
Butterflies are free to fly, and so they fly away
And I’m left to carry on and wonder why
Even through it all, I’m always on your side

But is there someplace far away, someplace where all is clear
Easy to start over with the ones you hold so dear
Or are you left to wonder, all alone, eternally
When this isn’t how it’s really meant to be
No it isn’t how it’s really meant to be

Well they say that love is in the air, never is it clear
How to pull it close and make it stay
Butterflies are free to fly, why do they fly away
Leavin’ me to carry on and wonder why
Was it you that kept me wandering through this life
When you know that I was always on your side

Note to self:
Must…see…this..movie…in JUNE 27! ^___^
I love WALL-E! my gosh…that bra scene is… LOL!

Updates:

1. Golden Bride, the 64-episodes SBS Weekend Drama that I’ve been following since last August, has finally ended today (with flying colors. Yes happy ending rules! lol) - will post some clip from the finale when I get the chance. This is such a great GREAT series. You’re missing out if you haven’t watched it, and it’s never to late to start now. *wink*

2. Two new weekend dramas premiered this weekend too. 1)Park Jung Gum - MBC weekend drama starring the ever-talented ahjumma/unni, Bae Jong Ok (she plays as a detective/police who kicks butt! lol), and of course, my old flame/crush, the actor cum singer w/ hot voice, the Chul Soo of Hyena, yes, he’s KIM MIN JONG. So happy to see him back in TV screen again after Hyena (2006). 2)Angry Mom - the new KBS weekend drama starring Ryu Jin (he’s back! married and still hot as ever everyone.) and his co-star here is none other than Miss Bad Couple - Shin Eun Kyung. Pretty and slim and very executive-lady-like :) Hot, intense chemistry with Ryu Jin, and I’m totally looking forward to see more of them on screen. The rest of the cast I don’t really care about, so yeah, for now, Park Jung Gum is definitely win more points from me.

In Park Jung Gum episode 2, there’s this scene where Kim Min Jong’s character (haven’t memorized the names yet) goes to a night club/bar, and here it is, T-Pain feat Akon “Bartender” song is playing in the background. Very smart indeed, music director. I applaud you. Coz usually, when kdrama has scene like this, the song is always crappy, very groovy. But this one, I think this is the best scene out of episode 2. Ha.

Last by not least:
Addicted to POM tea and grape juice mix w/ UV Vodka Grape (plus midori & sprite) bwahaha.
