Last Scandal

ay_link April 26th, 2008

Okay, it’s official. My beloved subbing team has taken over this great, fun and witty drama.

We are SO thrilled to do it, even if it means we have to work more and push old projects to completion.
And since “Last Scandal” has been so great this past few weeks, I was actually thinking of subbing it around 2nd week of this month. But since we have a bunch of new projects on-hand, I was worried about it and if our members are up for it. Thank goodness, we got enough help and now lots of people are interested in helping out. YAY!

So here it is, the newest (semi) mini SIDE PROJECT from WITH S2

Check out our wiki site for updates on the subbing progress.

And as usual, we will always release and announce subs releases both on Soompi and D-addicts forum.

Drama synopsis from MBC Global Media:
When a woman turns 39, she’ll think about getting Botox injections to cover up her wrinkles that don’t seem to recede well under cheap wrinkle removing cosmetics. She’ll also probably need to wear a corset to tuck in her flabby stomach and bulging hips but she’ll ignore such thoughts as she lives in a world where she thinks she’s still a nubile teenager. This is another TV drama that is presented to middle-aged women who dream of wonderful romances.

Going back and forth from fantasy and reality, this new-school drama, “Last Scandal” will bring back flashbacks of those days when their hearts fluttered when they met their first love. This drama is dedicated to middle-aged women who still dream of being reunited with their first love!

What if Cinderella was portrayed as a 39-year old woman with a kid? That’s the opening scene for this drama that tries to give hope to middle-aged women - who watch teen romances to vicariously relive the good ol’ days - that they can also overcome the constraints of their middle-aged lives and find true love once again.
A woman who has inner beauty is called a middle-aged woman.

They’ve learned the wisdom of life, which eludes the youth, as they are a year away from hitting the big Four-O. They’ve learned that real love is looking after their families first and foremost. They’re also humble and will be thankful when someone tells them that they look great. They’re beautiful in every way.
This drama will provide them with a solution in life that they themselves are not aware of.
Women are beautiful even when they are forty or fifty simply because they are feminine beings!

“Last Scandal”: A New Drama of Strong Spirited Ahjumma

By Han Sang-hee
Staff Reporter

Jeoung Jun-ho, left and Choi Jin-sil will star in “The Last Scandal”

Dramas have always been the center of attention among Koreans with their cheerful characters played by young, hip and stylish celebrities. This year, the fever will go on, but this time it will be led by none other than “ajumma.”

“Ahjumma” is a Korean term that refers to middle-aged women who are married and usually represented as strong, fearless and dependable.

Two television networks have already aired dramas depicting the lives of these women: MBC’s “A Beauty’s Unmatched, Park Jeong -geum,” and SBS’s “First Wives Club.”

Now, Korean fans will welcome another drama full of romance, humor and humanity, all conjoined into the life of a normal, but courageous “ahjumma.”

Choi Jin-sil and Jeoung Jun-ho, from “Marrying the Mafia” (2002), have teamed up with director Lee Tae-gon for the new drama, “The Last Scandal” (working title) a Cinderella story of a 39-year-old “ahjumma.”

At the press conference, Korea’s famed actress Choi Jin-sil, from “Rosy Life” (2005), explained why she chose to portray this particular character.

“As an actress, it may be natural to want a role that is glamorous and pretty, but I’m more comfortable with acting as an ordinary person. Reality is an important factor in dramas, and so I wanted to portray the life of a real person,” she said.

Hong Seon-hee, played by Choi, lived with her husband, 13-year-old daughter and her parents-in-laws. One day, her husband disappears and it is up to Hong to take care of the household.

While she struggles to make a living, she meets Song Jae-bin, played by handsome movie star Jeoung. Hong and Song were once high school sweethearts but now lead drastically different lives. Hong is a stubborn “ahjumma,” while Song has become a popular celebrity. The two coincidently meet, and their feelings for each other start to blossom, as if they were in high school again.

Jeong seemed excited about the drama as it is his first television drama appearance in two years.

“I feel awkward because it has been a long time since I starred in a drama, and especially because Song is an arrogant character,” he said.

Lee, the director, defined “Scandal” as a “trendy housewife drama.”

“The drama is about ‘ahjumma’ who feel helpless or even hopeless when it comes to romance. I wanted to portray the romance of people who believe their good days are over,” Lee said.

Distinctive actor Jung Woong-in from the movie “My Boss, My Hero” (2002) and model-turned-actress Byeon Jung-su will also perform as prominent characters. Jung will play Jeong’s brother and the CEO of his agency, while Byeon will play Jeong’s former lover.

When asked about what she thought about Korean “ahjumma,” Choi smiled.

‘I am an ‘ahjumma’ myself. I think Korean ‘ahjumma’ are fearless. They are not afraid of anything, and this is what I will be portraying. Although Song goes through emotional downfalls, she doesn’t give up. I think it is courage that defines ‘ahjumma’,” Choi said.

The drama will air for the first time at 9:40 p.m., Saturday, March 8 on MBC.

Upgrade

ay_link April 26th, 2008

Wordpress came out with a new version yesterday. So after work, I tried to do it myself and upgrade to Wordpress 2.5.1

Since it was my first time upgrading to a different WP version, I followed the instructions and back-up all my files first this time. Don’t wanna have all my archives gone again like last time hee.

And the result?
Nothing looks different lol. Even the wp-admin still looks the same. But at least, the dashboard doesn’t tell me to upgrade anymore keke..
