Who are you? Episode 16

Posted on 30 April 2008 by ay_link

This is it. Only one more episode (which will be airing in less than 24 hours from now; Korea’s time is 1:12pm – this series airs at 9:55pm for about an hour). And I think I’m planning to wake up at 5:30am tomorrow, just to catch the finale *grins*

Episode 16 wasn’t as lovey-dovey as the previous two episodes last week, but to my surprise, I did cry buckets around the beginning of the episode. Just when Young In begins to acknowledge her dad’s present, though she can’t see, but she finally believes in her heart. The message is just so beautiful. I can’t help my tears though I hardly can cry watching any dramas. So, this is a good sign. Hehe..

The episode picks up from last week, when Il Gun (in a form of Seung Hyo), came to visit Young In and she thought she’d give Young Ae (her dad’s gf) a surprise by giving him a kiss, right on the lips.
It was so funny looking at how Il Gun behaves and how furious he is, knowing the fact that Young In and Seung Hyo kissed already. Hahaha…

^sudden headache lol
While Young In thinks he’s somehow ‘jealous’ when he said that her lips belongs to him. He (Il Gun) gave her those lips, and she can’t just go kissing people. LOL.

As Il Gun only has 3 hours per day to ‘borrow’ Seung Hyo’s body, it was about time (around 11 o’clock), and the ’spell’ broke. Il Gun appears to be the ghost, and Seung Hyo is back.
From his expression, looks like Seung Hyo felt something and I really like this cap below.

Seung Hyo’s opening the car door for him… which is very unsual. He has never done this before. And Young In caught this moment right on time. I think this is how she began to wonder if what Young Ae said about her dad coming back is true.

Now this is the scene when I cried buckets…

Young In: Is he here? Is my dad here?
Seung Hyo: He’s there, sitting next to you… and he has been crying for a while now.

Now, I gotta praise the actor, Kang Nam Gil, who plays as Young In’s dad. If anyone remembers, he was in Goong also, as Chaegyung’s dad, and he was hilarious, yet very wise and loving in there.
In this drama, he did such a wonderful job, and in this scene, he nailed it. Actually, both Ara and KNG nailed this very touching, heartwarming scene.

And on the next scene, after Seung Hyo makes them three cups of coffee (so sweet!), he sits next to Young In and just being a good interpreter. This yet again, another crying-buckets scene for me.
The chemistry between father-daughter is amazing. I can’t seem to praise them enough.

(I gotta say, I LOVE Yoon Kye Sang’s half-teary expression like above. *fangirl mode*)

And since it’s late, Young In’s bestfriends are waiting for her to get off work. Yong Duk decided to call Seung Hyo, which Seung Hyo was just coming back home from shopping with Il Gun.

*lol, I adore this man-to-man talk lol*

Yong Duk: I know how you feel, I’m a man too.

And Seung Hyo got all worked up, while Il Gun is there beside him, trying to snoop in and agreeing to whatever Yong Duk is saying on the other side. Hahaha… cute.

The next morning, we see Seung Hyo sneaking in to check on sleeping Young In. Awww…
And, Il Gun makes them breakfast… (such a sweet scene)
This cap shows when Il Gun tells her to SMILE~~ kekeke…

And their usual chants.. the Hindi phrase:

Seung Hyo & Young In: Aaj hum bahut kush hai!

(translation: Today I’m very happy!)

Before they eat, Young In said, “Thank you for the foods, Dad. I’ll eat well.”
Il Gun asks her to say it one more time, just because… and Yoon Kye Sang has another expression that makes me go all fangirly~~ *sigh* kekeke…

At night, after work, after Seung Hyo reads the badly-written termination letter (that ends with ‘take care’ lol), he had a talk with Il Gun on the side of the famous Han River (gorgeous view; great G35S car lol).
He went home and since he seems to be very worried, he went out to see Young In.

Seung Hyo watching her from outside…

Then he asks her for a date. In the middle of the nite.
It must be around 11′ish since Young In usually gets off that late.

Then they go for a walk, which at first, they’re just walking side by side, so physical contact at all until Young In initiates. Hehe… so cute.

And last scene for today: the kimchi-making scene.

Young In went to Seung Hyo’s and she was so surprised to see all those vegetables (napa cabbages, green onions, in bulk)

And she thought Seung Hyo was her dad, at first. Until Seung Hyo proves to her that it’s not her dad, but it’s him. Then Il Gun takes over and teaches her how to make the kimchi, which supposedly can last for about 2 years lol

Last but not least…

Overall, this episode doesn’t feel like it’s the second to last episode to this great series, because it seems so ‘calm’ and subtle. No big climax, nor cliffhanger at the end. And it certainly gave a sense of satisfaction of what the finale can bring.
So I really like to see how they bring this to a grand ending tomorrow, if the preview from the end of today’s episode gave us some little clues. Seung Hyo’s reply to Il Gun’s appreciation (he was saying thank you) is, “Thank you, Father (in-law)” (*abbo-nim in Korean)
