La Dolce Vita Episode 1

ay_link May 3rd, 2008

Episode 1 started off with a detective rushing in and arriving at a crime site. Then we know upfront that Lee Dong Wook’s character, Lee Joon Soo has committed suicide. Boo. What a way to start off things right?
I usually hate this kind of drama — too dramatic and ‘pointless’. Especially when it happens to the first lead character. But for this one I stick around for the entire episode. Just because. *grins*

From MBC Global Site synopsis:

A high-priced luxury apartment in the downtown area of Seoul. In this peaceful neighborhood, one young man committed suicide under uncertain circumstances.
Park Byeong-shik, a retired detective, discovers that the dead man is Lee Joon-soo, a fugitive he had been pursuing for years before he left the force. He picks up clues to solve the uncertain cause of his death.

The story begins with events that happened six months before the man died.

Did Lee Joon-soo really kill himself? His lover was Hong Da-ae.
And how was he linked to Yoon Hye-jin, a middle-aged housewife?
The drama traces events in the past and present to reveal the intricate web of story arcs.

So okay. If Lee Dong Wook is the lead actor in this drama, and he’s supposedly dead already, then what do we have to hang on to this La Dolce Vita journey? ~~

WITH S2 is taking another side project. Yes, we are crazy. LOL.
It’s all because of the great combo of PD Kim Jin-min (Time of Dog and Wolf, Shindon) and Writer Jung Ha-yeon (Shindon). With the great ‘Shindon’ as their background, of course we couldn’t bypass this one.

Episode 1 was aired last night with ratings of 7.9% nationwide - 8.1% seoul as reported by TNS Media.
Ouuch. Pretty bad for a start, but since it’s competing with three solid weekend dramas, Happiness, Angry Mom and Park Jung Gum, I guess I should say at least they made it to the top20.

se7en - can’t buy me love

Haha.. finally found this clip.
Been searching for it high and low ;p and I thought this is the title of the last song he sang last night, LOL. Silly me.

OK, the audio doesn’t do justice, but he sounded much much better live, of course with all the screaming and noise. Eekz. But I thought this song is pretty solid, and more ’smooth’ - se7en’s style of course.
Oh just a bit additional tidbits from what I wrote last night, se7en stayed till 2:20am last night. So they were kinda mingled around and dancing a bit until he got pretty tired and left, I guess.

Finally, the day is over. Saw Se7en da man himself, and up-close he looked EXACTLY the same as what I saw from his clip performances, music videos or pictures.

Got there around 9, and lined-up at the VIP lane, and around 10, we finally stepped inside to the venue - The Highlands @ Hollywood and Highlands (near Kodak Theatre, Hollywood). The place looked smaller than the website but it was nice since we got our own VIP reserved table.

Around 11:20′ish, the man showed up, but he didn’t perform until around 12′ish.

Low point of the night was when someone knocked over the orange juice bottle and spilled it over my pants! arrgggh. It was just right before Se7en showed up, so obviously I missed the first few seconds coz I was busy trying to get some tissues and wiped my pants, and shoes. *sigh*

O well, but I got to see him perform his first song, then the second one (didn’t quite catch the title), but it was written by Teddy from 1TYM. The song itself was pretty tight. I liked.
His first single however though, wasn’t as good as I thought. It’s called “Girls” and one of the verse goes something like this, “I like them girls girls… I like them girls girls…” WTH? LOL. Soooo lameeeee.
But at least his English was quite good. I could understand him clearly when he talked, but not really when he sings this “Girls” song.

Now about his U.S. debut as we all knew from couple months ago. He spent quite some time here in the U.S. polishing and preparing for his debut. RQM (Red Queen Media) apparently is a new entertainment company here in US, owned by (obviously) Korean young enterpreneurs. Check out their site
