La Dolce Vita Episode 2

Isn’t that a pretty capture?
Hokkaido, or wherever they filmed this drama at in Japan, has such a gorgeous view.
Although it feels kinda ‘off’ to get the ‘cold’ winter feeling from this drama coz it’s already hot here in LA, I think this drama can easily be mistaken for an artsy, melancholic film or something.
Love the music and also that last song they always use towards the end of each episode.
Can’t wait to get my hands on the OST.

The episode started off with Hye Jin in her gorgeous hotel suite. OMG, the view, and the room, simply amazing. I guess it’s totally understandable since her husband is rich. And she’s on vacation, or more like she’s running away from her cheating husband.

Episode 2 shows us more on the history between her and Dong Won *the cheating husband*, and also layers a bit more about that mysterious friend of Joon Soo (Lee Dong Wook’s character)

Hye Jin’s friend is on the other side of the call. She, obviously wondered when Hye Jin will be back in Korea, as she seems not to care about her daughters and husband. But halfway through the conversation, she put the phone away from her ear, as to not wanting to hear her nagging.

She then left the hotel for another tour in the city.

Eating good foods (snowcrab?, cream puffs, chocolate, ice-cream), shopping and looking over cute stuffs such as this cute music box…

Look at those snowmen w/ scarfs! Hee.

Then Hye Jin remembering the night in the past, in her husband’s studyroom.
Looks like it was back in the day when she was pregnant with her first daughter.
One thing I’m not sure I like about this drama is that it jumps back to the past a lot. And of course, lots of narration here and there.

Going back to Japan… Hye Jin was walking with her ice-cream, when she suddenly saw Joon Soo from across the street, doing the dance in the front of a store.
People walking by pass him, seemed not to care with this weird foreign guy doing his thing, but when he suddenly fell and trip over, they started taking pictures of him from their cell phones. Haha.

Joon Soo’s trying to get her attention, and it worked.

Next scene, they both met again and Joon Soo tried to do another trick, sliding on ice and handed over the teddy bear for her.

then flashback to the morning when Dong Won sneaked out of the house, only noticed by her and had him followed. Where was he heading to? Da Ae’s apartment. And so, this is the day she found out about the affair.

The scene jumps back to their present time…

Joon Soo’s following her with the teddy bear, but he tripped over again.
It was still snowing, and seems like this is the first time he felt for her kindness when she helped him attending to his wound.

They walked around in the snow together, and stopped by at a warehouse? and Hye Jin tried to go glass blowing, but failed terribly.

Great jazzy music here when they were playing in the snow.

That night, back in Seoul, they show Dong Won’s gorgeous house.
OMG, just look at the architecture from the front-view.

And their kids’ playroom:

I skipped over a few scenes (Dong Won attending to some business matter, eating out with a friend? or business partner, him remembering the past again w/ the young unmarried Hye Jin, and him visiting Da Ae at the Scarlett and buying a few accessories, then they ended up having dinner with her.)

While in Japan, Joon Soo and Hye Jin were heading off to another tourism place by train.
In the train, he had a flashback to the night when he and his friend were fighting, neck to neck, trying to kill off each other. Freaky scene. Lotsa screaming and I honestly thought he killed the friend right here.

Then after they arrived, the train stopped and Hye Jin seemed to wanna ditch him. But he follwed her and they ended up eating together. She had a call from her friend back in Seoul, and went out to talk to her in private. Her friend told her that Dong Won was looking for her, trying to call her but no avail.
She nagged her again while on the other side, her friend’s husband is drunk and asking for another can of beer. Hye Jin quietly hung up when Joon Soo caught her outside.

Joon Soo trying to kiss her but only got hurt by her and they got separated.

The next morning, Joon Soo caught up with her and trying to apologize for the misbehaviour, but she ignored him and left the hotel with her rental car. But the car got into an accident in the snow so then they met again. Coincidence? Fate?

Next scene, back to Seoul, Dong Won’s having a phone convo with Da Ae.
She was packing her stuffs and telling him that she’s going away. Dong Won asked, “With who? A guy?”
She didn’t answer him, and the phone got cut off as soon as Dong Won tried to pursue her back, asking where she is and that he’d come over to get her.

Back In Japan, Joon Soo and Hye Jin were at the restaurant and seems like Joon Soo is beginning to really like her. “Just… give me one day please.” he begged. And they went together, sight-seeing in this beautiful city. Walking around in the snow, taking pictures, talking and he held her hand.

Last scene…

They were just sitting down when Joon Soo’s cell phone rang.
He excused himself to receive the call — and on the other side of the call is Da Ae, getting ready to aboard her flight.

Joon Soo: For how long?

Da Ae: One month? Maybe not that long.. two weeks?
I’ll call you when I get there. Bye… take care!

Back at the table, Hye Jin was waiting for Joon Soo to get back, and occupied herself by taking a look at his digital camera. Here she found out that Joon Soo been taking pictures of her secretly and that first picture at the airport back in Seoul when he first took her picture. She realized something, and rushed out to find for him. After searching and searching, then suddenly…

He hugged her from behind.
And… they kissed.

Passionately…

The end.
