La Dolce Vita Episode 3
ay_link May 10th, 2008

OK, it’s confirmed. She *points above* is the main reason why I’m attracted to this drama. Her name is Oh Yeon Soo and she’s so darn pro in acting. Just a quick glimpse of her expression, we can tell what her character is feeling without having any dialogue whatsoever.
Another solid episode this week, though sadly, the ratings for today’s episode didn’t make it to the TOP20 based on TNS Media. Geez, I guess people in Korea really stick to whatever they’re already watching (Angry Mom, Happiness, Park Jung Gum), and haven’t really given this drama a fair chance.

Continuing where we left over last week… them making out. LOL.
Seriously, I’m all for hot, passionate kissing scene, but I guess for this one, I just didn’t feel it. Full of explosion, yes. Hot actors, yes. But I think it’s really abrupt and just feels weird.
Joon Soo took Hye Jin and they were running to her car. Trying to continue with their make-out session in the car, he’s trying to feel her and rushing to unfastening her buttons and stuffs. Eeekz. WEIRD.
She’s still very hesistant, but nevertheless, he kept on pursuing her.
After a moment, he finally got it and gave up. They stopped.

One heck of an awkward moment I must say. Hehe. Anyway. Then I guess they decided to move on and acted like nothing’s happened. Walking side by side, he tried to make conversation coz she was still so stiff.
Then playfully, he took her hand and said, “Aren’t you hungry?” but then he felt shy and let go of her hand.
Hye Jin smiled and took his hand in return.
They went to a restaurant and while eating…
Hye Jin: Who was that on the phone?
Joon Soo: Are you curious?
A friend.
Girlfriend.
Hye Jin: A person that you like?
Joon Soo: Well…

After a while, Hye Jin was on the public phone, calling home and her daughter picked up the phone. Joon Soo came back with a hotel room key on his hand, and watching her from a far.
Hye Jin’s daughter called her dad to give him the phone.

Dong Won: It’s me.
What’s up?
Are you having fun?
Hye Jin: I’m sorry.
Dong Won: Don’t worry. Come home when you’re done.
Hye Jin: Wait…
Dong Won: What?
Wait for what?
Dong Won cut her off denying that he had tried to call her many time, and told her to go home soon. Their daughter was still there, listening and got quite surprised at the tone of his voice.
Hye Jin hung up the phone and came back to her table. Joon Soo was there already, waiting for her.
She told him they should call it a night and go. “Go where? your room? or my room?” he said.
Since there’s no reply from her, he said, “Just kidding. Here, stay in this room.” and gave her the keys.

Hye Jin: It must be me, right?
After listening to her, Joon Soo asked if they can be together for the night.
And so, it happened. They both shared the night together for the first time.
Again, I’m not against any bed scene whatsoever, and I think they both did a fair job on this particular one. Though it must’ve been so nerve-wrecking for Lee Dong Wook to film this kind of scene, especially when the partner is older than him. Hehe… but Oh Yeon Soo is still awesome. I adore her.

In the middle of the hot bed scene, they have clips of her walking in the snow.
Seriously, the sceneries are so beautiful! I guess Otaru is really this gorgeous in the winter.

The next morning, Joon Soo took off and headed out by himself, looking for traces of hope. As we know, he came to Japan to commemorate the death of his best friend. The guy that we saw in earlier episode when he had that relapse episode of horrible memory in the past. I’m not so sure about their relationship yet, but later on in this eppie, we’ll see there’s something about them that probably caused the accident to happen.

So since Joon Soo left by himself, Hye Jin spent the day walking around sightseeing.
I especially adore these two caps. Especially the last one. Oh Yeon Soo, again, it’s all about her this episode. Hehehe. OK, moving on.
We got another flashback. And this one is pretty important.

This scene is when Joon Soo first found out about the affair.

Da Ae, his girlfriend, was coming home, but she was followed by Dong Won. They argued right outside her house with him there watching all this with his own eyes. So this is the moment of truth. The night he found out that Da Ae has been fooling around with another man while she was with him.
Back to the present.
Hye Jin decided to go back to Tokyo, leaving him alone even before he got back.
She found his passports and got all suspicious because he has two passports with two different identities.
After she left, Joon Soo came back to the hotel and rushing off to catch her, but her train left already.
So he drove out to the next station and hoping to meet her again.

Yes, apparently they met. They embraced one another and he was so happy he found her.
Meanwhile, back in Seoul, Dong Won met up with his private detective. His mission is to find Da Ae, but the detective gave him some pictures of Da Ae and Dong Won. So there we have it.
Dong Won found out a bit more about her, and that she has a man.

He went back to his office, feeling all pissed off and irked, and remembering the past.
As we all know, he gave her the car, so that’s why she returned the set of keys and a car key.

In above caps, we see that the red car is her old car because Dong Won bought her the mini cooper.
I guess since he’s really rich, he can buy her anything she wants, and after offering her stuffs (her own office, etc.), he offered her a car. And she accepted.
Back in Japan, our couple spent the day together, sight-seeing and whatnot.

This cap is just like a portrait. Amazing view.
And at night, they spent yet another hot night together.

And as we can probably guess, he left again in the morning.
Lee Dong Wook did a great job in this intense scene. I shouldn’t say anything and let you watch it yourself.

Haunted with a guilty feeling, he couldn’t help himself.
Basically, they were both on the cliff and argued. Joon Soo was like, “No… not my noona (older sister). You can’t.” So I’m guessing his friend liked his sister, but he wasn’t happy with the idea. Song Gu, the dead friend mocked him and Joon Soo grabbed his collar. Why in the world they’re arguing on the cliff? Beats me.
But they did, and it caused him to fall off, hanging on to dear life and to his hand. He fell and died. And Joon Soo is left with such a guilt, he still hasn’t overcomed up until the present day.

In the morning, Joon Soo rushed off and left her alone (again).
She could only watch him from the window. Sigh.

Back to Seoul. She was sitting by the gate of her door, waiting for her husband to come home.
He finally arrived and found her there. He was so cold to her, and oh, their daughters were with the aunt. (his aunt I think), then he gave her the keys to go in.
After showering, and blowed her hair, she walked out to the living room, and Dong Won was outside talking and laughing on the phone.
When he was about to leave, she said she has something important to say.
Dong Won: What is it?
Hye Jin: I have something to say.
Dong Won: Is it urgent?
Hye Jin: Yes.
Dong Won: I have to be somewhere right now. Can’t it wait later?
Hye Jin: No, it can’t.
Dong Won: It can’t?
*he walks toward her…*

Dong Won: Fine. What is it?
*no replied from her, so he walks towards the door…*Hye Jin: I started to like someone.
Dong Won: What did you just say?

Hye Jin: I started to… like someone.
Dong Won: Is that so?
Hye Jin: I’m sorry.
Dong Won: I see.
Then he left the house.
She talked to herself, more like repeating herself. “Yes, I started to like someone…”
