Iljimae: an overview

Posted on 22 May 2008 by ay_link

Perhaps it’s because of Lee Junki (the man behind the mask above) that brings such great fortunes to this newest SBS drama, Iljimae. The drama premiered yesterday at 9:55pm Korea time starring Lee Junki (Time of Dog and Wolf), Han Hyo Joo (Spring Waltz, As much as heaven and earth), Park Shi Hoo (Perfect Neighbor), and Lee Young Ah (Golden Bride). Its pilot episode grabbed a solid #4 ratings Nationwide, 15.5% and a strong 17% for Seoul ratings yesterday. No wonder, by the 2nd episode, Iljimae’s ratings jumps up to #2 spot – 17.7% nationwide and 18.4% Seoul. Pretty impresive, no?

There must be something about this drama that’s so intriguing, and yes, it could’ve been Lee Junki’s selling power, but also because of the story. For all I know, the fans have all been waiting for this one to be aired, and I, myself, after watching episode 1, am very intrigued indeed by the pace of this series. Junki is awesome as always, and all the other child actors are simply AMAZING. Seriously, how the heck do they train these awesome child actors?

New boyband on the block

Posted on 22 May 2008 by ay_link

The new boyband on the block is Shinee (pronounced like “shiny”) is a contemporary Korean boyband consists of 5 very young male members: Jong Hyun (종현), Min Ho (민호), Tae Min (태민), Ohn Yoo (온유), and Key, ranging from the ages of 14~18.

This band has been working on their debut for some time now under the SM Entertainment wings (the used-to-be SHINHWA’s management group before the guys dumped SM. Heard lots bad things about this management company too btw.)

SM Entertainment stated, “Like their unique name, they are going to be unique with their dancing as well as their fashion, and trendy music.” Member Tae Min, who is only 14 years old, was recruited due to his dancing skills, and is planning on giving his audience a worthy show. I guess it’s ‘easier’ to milk money out of young boys who can dance rather than singing, but after watching their MV debut called, “Noona (older sister), you’re so pretty”, I think the song is very catchy. Nice music to accompany their dancing skills and boy, how they all look so young and so look-alike! I seriously can’t tell which one is which. LOL.
