La Dolce Vita Episode 10

For a young, sophisticated, yet very complex character like Da Ae, I must say Park Shi Yeon nailed it successfully. Different than her previous roles, I can actually see there’s a solid development in the character that makes Da Ae interesting to observe. Her indecisiveness but yet, very witty and alluring, can make a smart guy like Dong Won willing to jeopardize his marriage to be with this girl.

What makes Da Ae so attractive? I sometimes ask. A girl like Da Ae, though can be hated by housewives, and envied by single women, she knew just how to be herself and still be lovable. In episode 10, I’m surprised to see more stories between her and Joon Soo. And of course, there’s a surprise at the end which makes it a perfect cliffhanger for this weekend’s episodes.

The episode starts off with Joon Soo and Da Ae.

Let’s refresh our memory. Joon Soo found out that night that Da Ae was with Dong Won. He hated that and tried hard to put some sense to Da Ae. He wanted her to end it with ‘that man’ and started anew. But Da Ae, stubbornly said what is she to him that he can tell her what to not and what not to do like that? Who is he anyway? It’s none of his business how she want to live her life. If I were Da Ae, I probably would say the same thing, especially after what Joon Soo did that night when Da Ae went to his place (remember the hot passionate spur of the moment kissing scene?), yes, he rejected her that night, but yet now he’s confusing the heck out of me. Does he really like Da Ae? Is he sincere or what?

Speechless Joon Soo just stared at her and then he tried to say it…”that man, he’s…” but Da Ae interrupted, “Married?” “That’s right.” Joon said. But Da Ae won’t buy it just like that. “People stay together when they’re in love, some people get married because they’re in love, isn’t that how it usually goes? “

Joon Soo took Da Ae’s hand and walked outside to his car, but they met Byuk Ja.

Byuk Ja: Hey, hey… where are you guys going?

Da Ae: Date!

In the meantime, we see Dong Won waiting for Da Ae to show up but she never did.

At home, Hye Jin and Sung Sook were sitting in the livingroom. Hye Jin tried to tell Sung Sook again not to wear clothes like that. Her short is too short for her, what if her husband is around?

But Sung Sook didn’t take it seriously. They got into talking about Dong Won, and Hye Jin asked her, “You like Dong Won, don’t you?” Sung Sook laughed. (apparently she did, well, according to her body language).

Back to Da Ae and Joon Soo… driving off somewhere… “Where are we going?” Da Ae tried to ask. Joon Soo just said, “On a date.”

They stopped by a dining place near the beach, a place where he went with Seong Gu before.
Meanwhile, back in Scarlet, Dong Won just arrived but Byuk Ja said Da Ae isn’t in. Dong Won saw the red bag, and so he didn’t believe her. He went straight to that little room in the back and stayed there waiting for Da Ae to show up.

Back at the restaurant, Joon Soo and Da were sitting down at their table, and the lady was there. “Long time no see.” Joon Soo said, but she ignored him, pretending not to know who he was.

Da Ae asked Joon Soo, “Who is she? someone you know? Is that how it’s gonna be? Are you really not going to tell me? Tell me who!” But Joon Soo didn’t say anything, but got up and went straight to where the lady went. “Why didn’t you answer her?” “Noona? is that how you should tell her? or is it Mother?” then Joon Soo stormed out and threw things around angrily. He couldn’t stand it and went ballistic. It was such an emotional scene to see.

They stopped by the beach to have a talk.

Da Ae was very concerned at what just happened, but she knew how to bring herself. Then Joon Soo told her that when he was young, his uncle took him away and he got separated. Da Ae asked, “what about your dad?”
but Joon Soo said he doesn’t know.

Back at home, Dong Won just arrived at home, and first he hesitated to go in. But then he put his luggage in the trunk and went it.

With Hye Jin in the kitchen, Sung Sook and Dong Won were having a good time laughing while Hye Jin cooked some noodles for Dong Won. Listening to them talking, Hye Jin looks like she can puke anytime, lol. “You want eggs?” she asked, interrupting their talk. But Sung Sook doesn’t care, and she teased him by saying that Dong Won is the first and last love of Hye Jin’s life.

Meanwhile, Da Ae and Joon Soo have just arrived. Joon Soo were sleeping all the way

Da Ae: Let me ask you a question.
So far, is there nobody that you like?
There won’t be relationships if you don’t try it.
Da Ae: Is it because of Mom?
(Joon Soo shakes his head)
Da Ae: Why? Why is it like that?
Joon Soo: Are you hungry? if you’re hungry, we should eat.
Da Ae: Joon Soo, you tend to avoid questions, don’t you?
Joon Soo: You… why ask if you knew already?
Da Ae: I was wondering… no, I can’t take that kind of answer.
I’d let you say you don’t know yet.
Joon Soo: What?
Da Ae: You said you want me to live properly.
But you know the answer, Joon Soo.
Yes, I know and very aware of the answer already…

Inside, Byuk Ja tried to ask Da Ae about her date with Joon Soo. If she was having fun with him, etc.
At night, Byuk Ja couldn’t sleep and so she woke up and saw Da Ae sitting alone in the dark. “This girl, you scared me! Why aren’t you sleeping? Can’t sleep?” she asked. And later on that night, Byuk Ja suggested Da Ae to do a little test on Dong Won.

Meanwhile, at home, Hye Jin couldn’t sleep. She was watching her husband by thinking to herself.

Hye Jin: Is that how he wants me to believe?
Pretending that that woman doesn’t exist?
Or… whatever happened between them, it doesn’t really matter?
Is that so, honey? You’re not interested?
If that’s so, I wish I’d know it from the beginning… because he was not the one wanted to marry.

The next morning, they met up in the place they were supposed to meet yesterday (when Da Ae took off with Joon Soo). Dong Won stared at her, with an upset look on his face, but Da Ae tried to take it easy.

Da Ae: Are you mad?
I did come here but there was noone…
Yes. That’s a little lie.
Are you going to get a divorce?
Dong Won: What?
Da Ae: Thinking about it, getting married to you it wouldn’t so bad…
Dong Won: Did you take the wrong medicine?
Da Ae: Don’t you like me?
(Dong Won couldn’t answer)
Da Ae: No?
Dong Won: Is that what you want?
Da Ae: What?
Dong Won: For me to get a divorce.
Da Ae: It’s not that I’m asking you to get a divorce, but it would be nice to know that you’re willing to get a divorce… that way I know if you really like me.
Dong Won: ….
Da Ae: Thinking about it seriously huh?
Dong Won: You’re not kidding?
Da Ae: You know if I’m kidding with you…
Dong Won: I’ll get divorce.
Da Ae: What if?
Dong Won: I’ll really get a divorce if you want to, kiddo.
Da Ae: Well…

Then Da Ae teased him some more by getting in the car, after Dong Won asked what if he really gets a divorce, would she want to live with him? She answered, “Get a divorce first then I’ll give you the answer.”

On the other hand, Hye Jin was about to go to the gym. She parked her car and saw a guy coming towards her after parking his motorcycle. She immediately thought about Joon Soo, but that guy wasn’t Joon Soo.
It was this guy:

Some random guy that appeared but it shows how much Hye Jin thought about Joon Soo unconsciously.

She called Dong Won and asked him to meet up to have dinner. Dong Won was sitting alone in his office. He said to meet later at home, but Hye Jin asked him if they can meet somewhere tonight.

Detective Park stopped by the apartment again and met with the security guard. He gave him his card. The security guard went upstairs to Joon Soo’s suite. Told him that that man showed up again and asked him questions… about how’s the owner of the apartment (where Joon Soo currently lives), and asked about the real owner, etc.

Joon Soo asked him, “So then what did you tell him?” The security guard said he didn’t tell him anything. “I just said I don’t know.”

Then Joon Soo went back to his room to get a stack of money and gave it to the guard. “Here. Take it” “No, it’s okay.” But Joon Soo gave the stack of money over and closed the door.
He went back to his room and watched the guy picking the money from the floor.

Joon Soo suddenly remembered a flashback even with Seong Gu. A similar situation where he was handed a stack of money from Seong Gu.

Then there was some flashback scenes with Joon Soo and Seong Gu, after the accident happened.

And at night, Joon Soo went to Da Ae’s place and he was waiting for her outside.

She cooked him lasagna, and they were having a nice dinner together.

Meanwhile at the restaurant, Hye Jin was there already when Dong Won arrived. Quickly, as soon as he sat on his chair, he asked if she had order yet. She said no. Then he called the waiter to order bulgogi and soju.

Dong Won: Do you really have something to talk about?
Hye Jin: Yes.
Dong Won: What about the kids?
Hye Jin: They’re with Sung Sook.
Dong Won: Oh, Sung Sook. How long will she be staying with us?
Hye Jin: But I thought you like her there.

Then after talking back and forth, Dong Won asked her what if he was the one now that ask for a divorce. What would she do? Hye Jin looked very shocked at his sudden question…
