La Dolce Vita Episode 11

Despite of all the seriousness and dark atmosphere in this drama, I’m glad they inserted this lasagna-making scene at Da Ae’s place because we get to see how comfortable they can be around each other. Lee Dong Wook and Park Shi Yeon have worked together before in “My Girl” so I guess it’s easier for them to break the barrier.

Picking up where we left off, it’s Dong Won & Hye Jin’s scene at the restaurant…

Dong Won looked so shocked after he asked the question, “If I ask for a divorce, what are you going to do?” and Hye Jin said, “Is that so? Fine. Go ahead then.” *and there’s that wine glasses clinging “Cheers!” from the old couple next to their table after Hye Jin finished talking ㅋㅋㅋ I just thought the timing is perfect. HA.* And to my surprise, Dong Won seems to hope that his wife would be devastated when he’d ask the question. Little did he know, Hye Jin has been preparing for this moment all along, and she knew just how to answer him back (which she did ㅋㅋㅋ)

Dong Won: Forget it. I mean this.
Forget all.
Hye Jin: (smirks) That’s fine.
Hye Jin: You could do whatever you want.
Dong Won: Is that what you want?
Hye Jin: What?
Dong Won: I just asked what if I ask for a divorce, and you just said “OK” without thinking twice?
Hye Jin: I’ve thought about this a lot.
This is not something just I just think about it now.
Dong Won: What?
Hye Jin: That’s why I asked you to meet here.
Dong Won: Great. So you knew that I thought about it.
All right, let’s do it till the end then.

Back at Da Ae’s place, they were both goofing around since Joon Soo didn’t let her try the lasagna that he kept eating by himself. Until Byuk Ja came in and saw this scene.

Da Ae stopped for a bit and looked towards the door.

Then they both looked at each other with this funny faces, while Byuk Ja stood there analyzing what just happened before she walked in.

After quickly exchanging a stare, Joon Soo looked at Byuk Ja, and so she said, “OK, I’m going…”

Then they both laughed it off after Joon Soo finally shared the almost-empty plate (maybe there was only 1 bite left haha) to Da Ae. So then she put the empty bowl on his head ㅋㅋㅋ

Then we’re back to the restaurant with Hye Jin & Dong Won.

Dong Won: Going home?
Hye Jin: Yes.
Dong Won: Did you bring your car?
Hye Jin: No.
Dong Won: Want me to give you a lift?
I have to to go back to the office.
Hye Jin: Go then.
Dong Won: Wait here. I’ll go get the car and take you home.

In this scene, there’s something I’m a bit puzzled, so I won’t elaborate it much until I can confirm it. In a nut shell, Da Ae asked, “Are you not going to shower?”, but Joon Soo just sat there with a weird expression on his face. Something is bothering him, and Da Ae saw that. “You seem a bit different.” she said. Then he approached closer to her and he mentioned that he thought about what happened that day (I’m guessing it’s when he gave the brown bag full of money to her and then she came back asking why he gave her that money, which he couldn’t answer at that time.) We all know that Joon Soo wanted Da Ae to break it off with Dong Won, and if money is the key factor, he wanted to provide her with some of Seung Gu’s so that Da Ae can be free. But like I said, I’m still puzzled as to why they both teared up so much in this scene, in an instant. And me as viewer, I was left with, “What the heck just happened?” kinda thought.

Then after he got home, he saw Seung Gu sitting on the dining table, waiting for him.

And as always, Seung Gu belittled him again and saying nonsense things.

Dong Won: You. I’ve changed. The old Hye Jin wasn’t like this.
Hye Jin: In the old days?
I was dull and naive.
Dong Won: Yes, yes.
Hye Jin: I’m not here to hear about myself.
Dong Won: I still need to talk.
Why do you provoke me?
I really want a divorce.
I told you. Let’s give it some more thought.

Hye Jin chose to leave his car and going by herself.

Dong Won: What are you doing?
Are you going to get on?
Hye Jin: I’ll take a taxi.
Dong Won: You know you can’t change my mind anymore.
Hye Jin: I need to get some fresh air too.
You said you’re sorry but you didn’t mean it.

After Dong Won left, Hye Jin walked around and met a couple making out in the tunnel. The young man was harrasing the girl after she told him to stop. She walked pass through the. Meanwhile, Dong Won stopped by a club, and he was singing to his heart content before his colleagues came by and met him.

Looking at him in this scene, I feel pity somewhat. It’s a bittersweet how he seems to be in despair state, though he is the one who started all this first. But applause to Jeong Bo Seok one more time for his awesome acting. No wonder the PD/writer picked him again to star in this drama after casting him in Shindon.

At home later on, after Dong Won arrived in a drunken state, carried by his colleagues, Sung Sook tried to help him but Hye Jin wouldn’t. And finally she blew up and yelled on the kids while Dong Won was on the floor, unconscious.

Meanwhile, at Joon Soo’s, he tried to burn the evidence, and so he took his fake passport (the one named Kang Seong Gu with his picture in it), but in the middle of doing it, his doorbell rang. It was Detective Park. Quickly he stopped the fire and threw the burnt passport to the toilet sink and flushed it away.

Detective Park went in and inspected the rooms, but Joon Soo quickly offered him some drinks.

Detective Park continued his investigation by asking few questions about Seung Gu’s routines, in which Joon Soo tried to answer them as smart as he could. (Honestly I think this Detective already knows something, but as he couldn’t get proofs, he needs to hold off first)

And in the morning at Hye Jin’s kitchen, Dong Won was flipping through the newspaper, and Hye Jin tried to be nice and asked him if he wants coffee.

Dong Won: Is Sung Sook still here?
Hye Jin: She’s taking a few days off.
Dong Won: Good. She stil is immature.
Hye Jin: She went to Jeju Island early morning.
Went there for vacation and to meet a friend.

Hye Jin: Do you want to eat?
I’ll be cleaning the girls’ room…
Dong Won: Slowly. I need to take a shower first then going to work.
In the meantime, I’ll move out.

Dong Won walked out, but after a while, he went back in:

Dong Won: You’re saying that guy likes you too?
You met him in Hokkaido, right?
Was that the first time you met him? Did you both know each other before?
Hye Jin: Honey.
Dong Won: Honey? Honey, my ass.
Cut that phrase out of your mouth!

Hye Jin: I’ll be responsible.
Dong Won: And how are you going to be responsible?!

Then we see Da Ae & Byuk Ja at their store. Byuk Ja complaining about someone sleeping over in their place, which is Dong Won. But Da Ae asked her to let him stay for a bit. After Dong Won woke up, they went out to eat.

Da Ae: Drink more coffee and eat up. Since you didn’t sleep much last night…
Why?
Dong Won: That. I need some time.
Da Ae: Sure.
Dong Won: My wife is causing me problems.
Da Ae: Really?
Dong Won: Anyway, we need some time out.
Da Ae: I was just saying…
Dong Won: It’s not because of you (causing the divorce)

Dong Won: I told her I would divorce her…
So just wait. I’ll decide what’s need to be done.
Why are you sighing?
Da Ae: It’s getting scary…
Dong Won: What?
Da Ae: That you’re really getting a divorce.
Da Ae: Why are you laughing?
Dong Won: Good, ’cause I’m not here to divorce a mother.
Da Ae: Really?
Dong Won: Yes.

Hye Jin: It must’ve scared you when I lost my temper last night…
Na Ri: No…
Hye Jin: I’m sorry. Last night Mom’s tired, I’m sorry for yelling at you girls…
Na Ri: It’s okay…. it’s because Auntie did it.
Na Rae: No, it’s Dad’s fault.
Na Ri: No, it’s Auntie’s fault.
Na Rae: No.
Hye Jin: It’s Mom’s fault.
Hye Jin: I promise. I won’t do it again, okay?
Na Ri: Hey look, swings!

Na Rae: Pizza sounds good.
Na Ri: I prefer Mom’s cooking.
Na Rae: But pizza is better.
Na Ri: We’re here. Let’s go.

Hye Jin: Don’t run! You could get hurt!
(then a motorcycle passes by them)
Na Ri & Na Rae: Hey, motorcycle… it’s him!
