La Dolce Vita Episode 14

ay_link June 20th, 2008

Dong Won and Joon Soo, the two men in Hye Jin’s life. Which one would you be more scared of? Though Joon Soo hasn’t shown to have the same behaviour as Dong Won in treating women, I think I’ll be more scared to get a husband like Joon Soo. Why? Because I can’t deal with such an emotionally intense person no matter how hot he is! HAHA. Just kidding. I think I’ve praised Jeong Bo Seok (the actor that plays as Dong Won) before, and I’d praise him again and again and again. His acting is just so a.m.a.z.i.n.g. ‘Nuff said.

After the sudden shocking appearance of Joon Soo with his bloody face and clothes all drenched in the rain, Hye Jin took Joon Soo to a more shadier place near the garage. Which means, Dong Won from above, couldn’t see what’s going on because of that. So with a cold face, he went to the kitchen and grabbed some drinks. I’m pretty sure Dong Won’s thought went like this #$@(&*()#@%&#@) though he couldn’t do anything about it.

Joon Soo: I didn’t intend to disturb you.
Now that I’ve seen you, I’m okay now. I’m okay.
Hye Jin: Just wait for a sec. I’ll go get my keys and drive you to the hospital.
Joon Soo: I don’t need to.
Just a bit longer, then I’ll leave.
Please just stay here with me for a while.
Hye Jin: How did you get hurt?
Joon Soo:I got injured, that’s all
Hye Jin: Did you fight with someone?
Joon Soo: No.
Hye Jin: Come on, tell me what happened.
Joon Soo: You wouldn’t understand even if I told you about it.
So please let’s not talk about that.

Joon Soo: I keep asking myself… what would be the one memory deep buried within my heart, that I could look back and treasure on the verge of dying…
And I keep getting the same answer…
Our meeting in japan.

Joon Soo: Was it because of the snow?
The pure and white snow in Otaru that covered the world and blinded us?
If we’d met somewhere else, would we be able to pass each other just like that without noticing? Would we?

Joon Soo: If that is so, then let’s us start over again.
As if we’d first met right now… because I’m someone who can love you.
Hye Jin: No… no more.
Joon Soo: Okay then. I’ll leave.
Hye Jin: Let’s go to the hospital, you need to get treated.
Joon Soo: There was only one thought in my mind when I came here… that it’s raining.
And when it rains or when it snows,
lovers stand looking out of the window, longing for each other.
And because of its darkness, someone looking out wouldn’t see me.
But it I’d be able to see her standing there.

They were staring at each other, longingly, while Dong Won was still in his ice-cold state of mind, with full of thoughts, Joon Soo took Hye Jin by the arm and started kissing her passionately. Struggling a little with Hye Jin’s hesitation, Joon Soo took the clue but then he took her hand and started running in the rain, leaving the house premise.

They stopped at the park, and Joon Soon started getting more aggresive at her. It was like that night in Otaru when he grabbed her hand and went in to the car before started making out with her. But here, Hye Jin stopped him, and told him off, in which he obeyed and gave her space to breathe.

Hye Jin asked, “How much more miserable do you want to make me? You know very well if you carry on like that I won’t be able to refuse you.” Then they stood apart for a while until Hye Jin asked him, “Where do you live? I can’t go home like this.”

Then they arrived at Joon Soo’s place, after getting out of the elevator, Joon Soo stepped out first, leaving Hye Jin behind. He held the door for her, and led her in towards his place. At first, Hye Jin only stood there, watching him turning on the lights, without stepping closer to the door. Joon Soo opened his room, and invited her to get a hot shower. After preparing some white clothings for her, he said he’d run to the laundry to get her clothes dry. Then he left Hye Jin alone with a smirk/happy smile on his face.

After showering, Joon Soo walked out of his room and saw Hye Jin with a white men’s blouse and a white short, making some coffee in his kitchen.

Hye Jin: How do you take your coffee?
Sugar and cream or black?
Joon Soo Sugar and cream
Hye Jin: Hey, we have the same taste.
I didn’t put too much cream in it… too much chloresterol is bad for you.

Meanwhile, at home, Dong Won was still awake, and waiting for her to come home. He took a bottle of wine and gulped it down with some ice. Chewing down the eyes with that heavy, angry stare.

Dong Won: What game is she playing now?
She doesn’t come home to bed… keeping me wide awake, racked in jealousy… waiting for her in a terrible state… gets a job at a travel agency and rented a place of her own?
Hugging a young man in the street outside the house…
She’s ruining my life this way.
Jealousy? Can it really be?
Yes… you don’t need to love someone to feel jealous.

Back at Joon Soo’s, he went to the laundry room and met with the security guard who told him that the CCTV tape the guys took it with them wasn’t the only one that he has. Apparently there is another copy. But Joon Soo got all furious and told him to keep quiet and not to mention again about this matter. The security guard is confused as to why Joon Soo doesn’t want to report this matter to the police.

After he got back, Joon Soo saw Hye Jin in his room, playing with the remote control that can pull up and down the huge poster of Joon Soo/Seung Gu/Da Ae.

Hye Jin: Is that the man that passport belonged to?
Joon Soo: Your clothes aren’t quite dry yet.
A while longer.
Hye Jin: Why did you break up with her?
Was it because of my husband?
Joon Soo: I told you already, didn’t I?
Hye Jin: I had followed my husband and found that he had a prettier, younger woman than me. But for more than a year, I couldn’t bring myself to say anything about it.
Joon Soo: What else do you want to know?!
Tell me what else you want to know, I’ll give you all the answers!
Hye Jin: Tell me… what kind of a person are you, Joon Soo?
After all, you know a lot about me, don’t you?

Joon Soo: After I was born, my parents passed away.
Until I was six I was raised by my older sister.
After my sister married and left home, my maternal uncle took me in.
Then, while hanging out the Han river, I met Seung Gu.
Thanks to him I’ve been living the luxurious life of the rich.
But that’s not really what you want to know, is it?”
Hye Jin: What I…
Joon Soo: What you want to know if how evil of a man I am o be?
Whether I enjoyed all these things enough to commit a murder?

Joon Soo broke down in tears until he fell asleep. Then Hye Jin left his place early in the morning and headed home. As soon as she stepped in, Dong Won was in the kitchen, preparing the kids’ breakfast.

Dong Won: Who is it?
Is it you?
Come over here and take over this now that you’re here.
I’ve already done most of the work.
Just finish this off while I go take a shower.
Hye Jin: Are the kids up?
Dong Won: They’re in the shower.
Na Rae, your omelette’s ready! Come down and eat it quick!
I told the kids you were still sleeping in the bedroom coz you’re sick.
So pretend you’re sick.

Meanwhile, Detective Park took a visit to President Kang’s villa.
When he arrived, Pres. Kang’s mistress told him that it’s still very early so he had to wait. Then when Pres. Kang showed up, he immediately questioned him about that night in Joon Soo’s place.

Detective Park: It’s all recorded on here …
Even if Lee Joon Soo did kill your son, you can’t solve the matter by doing this.
It has to be by proper legal procedures.
Pres. Kang: Legal procedures??
Detective Park: Yes indeed, sir.
Pres. Kang: Now you listen here.
I lost my one and only son. Compared to that, exactly how the kid died isn’t such an issue. Whether it was murder or an accident.
What’s the point of proclaiming the whys and hows of it in general?
I know fully well what sort of life my love lived.
Why should so many people who have no business knowing about his private life,
learn anything beyond the fact that he’s dead and laid to rest?
Let’s just drop it.
Detective Park: But, if an investigation can reveal how your son has been murdered,
then what would you do?
Would you still send out people to take care of the matter too?
President Kang: If that guy was sent to jail or killed, would that bring my son back to life?
Just leave it alone.

Back to Hye Jin’s house, the girls and Dong Won were about to leave for work/school. Before they left, the girl waved goodbyes to their mom, but Dong Won said nothing nor he looked to his wife before he drove off. Then Hye Jin remembered the previous time when he was getting ready to work.

Dong Won: Have you ever invited him to the house?
Do the girls like him too?
“Motorbike uncle” they call him, can you believe it? HA!

And when Dong Won’s at work, Hye Jin called him up to tell him to pick up the girls. She specifically asked him not to forget to pick Na Ri and Na Rae from the cram school. Dong Won said, “Fine.” then hung up, but at home, Hye Jin was getting ready to pack her things with the help of Sung Sook.

Sung Sook: What did he say? (when you told him to pick up the girls)
Hye Jin: I don’t know. He hung up before I can ask him anything else.

Then not too long after, Hye Jin’s boss came by using her red caravan car to help her move her things. She met up with Sung Sook, and asked her who she is. Sung Sook answered she was Hye Jin’s roomate when they were in Japan. The boss didn’t find that amusing, and so the both of them left the house.

Meanwhile, somewhere around 47 minutes into the episode, Da Ae finally showed up. She was feeling miserable at home, and Byuk Ja told her to get up and eat her porridge that she bought for her. And while Da Ae was still sulking and pouting, remembering the night before when she got ‘dumped’ by Dong Won, Byuk Ja told her to start fresh and forget Dong Won.

But Da Ae said she can’t just forget about it because now she’s curious as to why he dumped her.

Byuk Ja: Why are you so furious?
You didn’t even like him that much!
Da Ae: Can’t you understand how I feel?
It was three whole years!
For three years we had fun together, even if I didn’t really like him.
Byuk Ja: Hey now! If you talk like that is sounds like you fell in love with him!
Da Ae: That woman, she’s really the bitch.
There was I, feeling guilty!
Toward a woman who was cheating on her husband and didn’t give a damn for her own family!
That wrinkly bitch stole the man I love!
Byuk Ja: Eat up your porridge and forget both guys.
Go on a shopping trip to Paris.
Da Ae: Unni, how do I look right now?
Byuk Ja: Really pretty, as always.

Da Ae put her hair up and went to the gym. Seems like she has a plan to carry out, as if she’s on a big mission. After that, with a long purple? dress, she went to meet Dong Won.

Da Ae: What’s up?
Don’t you like the hat? It’s expensive.
Dong Won: Did I hurt your pride?
Da Ae: Me? Hurt my pride?
Dong Won: When I came out with not wanting us to meet any more.
Da Ae: You think whether we stop seeing each other is only up to you, Dong Won ssi?
Isn’t that so?
Dong Won: Dong Won ssi?
Da Ae: That’s right. It’s better than calling you ‘ahjussi… ahjussi’
Dong Won: You’re aware I have a few problems in my marriage right now, aren’t you?
Da Ae: Is that so?
Dong Won: It’s nothing that can’t be resolved as quickly.
Da Ae: Is it something with your wife?
Dong Wong: No.
Da Ae: Then what kind of problems are they?
Seeing how our relationship’s already out in the open, what more is there?
Dong Won: It’s actually to do with that.
Da Ae: Is it connected with you finally asking for a divorce?
Dong Won: How do you mean, me asking for a divorce?
Da Ae: You said you were going to divorce her.
When I asked you if you could get divorced.
Dong Won: And I will get divorced.
Da Ae: Then what’s all this about us not meeting any more?
Ahh, I get it.
Dong Won: What?
Da Ae: Want me to take a guess?
Your wife’s having an affair, isn’t she?
I am right, aren’t I?
Dong Won: Just eat your spagetti.
Da Ae: I’ll wait.
Thinking about it, I’ve been bad to you, Dong Won ssi.
I’m sorry. I’ll be good to you from now on.

When Hye Jin picked up the kids, she asked whether or not their dad came to pick them up, but the kids told her that Sung Sook picked them up instead. Na Rae asked where Hye Jin’s car was, but she said she didn’t bring it. So the girls were happy because they got to take a walk in the park instead.

At the park, Hye Jin watched the girls eat their icecream, and began to talk to them about the moving arrangement.

Hye Jin: There’s something I have to tell you..
For a little while… Mom’s going to have to leave home and go live someplace else. It’s because…
Na Ri: I know… because of Dad.
Hye Jin: No, it’s not because of Dad. It’s Mom’s fault.
If I tried to explain it all to you right now, you wouldn’t be able to understand, but…
Na Ri: Will you still be able to take us to and from school?
Hye Jin: Of course I will. Except when I’m busy
Na Ri: Did you get a job?
Hye Jin: Yes.
Na Ri: Why?
Hye Jin: To earn some money
Na Rae: But Dad earns money, doesn’t he?
Hye Jin: When you two come to live with me, I’ll have to start earning money myself.
Na Rae: Ahh… that makes sense…

Meanwhile, at Joon Soo’s, Detective Park is visiting.

Detective Park: Did you get hurt a lot?
Any idea who was behind it?
Joon Soo: I can guess.
Detective Park: Sure you can. And I bet you’re right.
Joon Soo: Did you come by to check up whether I was still alive?
Detective Park: President Kang said to leave the matters alone.
But I wasn’t convinced in doing that…
Joon Soo: Then how can I help?
Detective Park: No need to.

After Detective Park left, Joon Soo went searching on his files and deleted pictures and files that can be evidence. Then he came to see Hye Jin’s pictures, in which he was about to delete them but couldn’t.

At home, Dong Won found out the empty closet, and called Hye Jin.

“You left home? Fine, in that case, leave everything behind. Hand over your savings book, your credit cards and your car keys, the lot.” he said when he called Hye Jin.

At the park, after hanging up the phone, Hye Jin stood up and about to leave, then suddenly…

Da Ae: Is Bok-soon doing okay?
No need to pretend you don’t know me, right?
Putting on an act about Joon Soo… you do know him, am I right?
You met him by accident, did you? I don’t think so…
