Blue Night, an interview with DJ Alex

Alex “Blue Night is not a result of my friendship with Sung Shi Kyung…”
As we know, since early June, Alex has been working on his midnight show on MBC radio FM4U, Blue Night. Because the previous DJ, Sung Shi Kyung had to leave to fulfill his military obligation, the baton is passed on to Alex. The previous midnight show is led by Sung Shi Kyung, a famous ballad singer, and it is now called “Blue Night with Alex”.

In the recent interview with Joy News 24, Alex explained, “The reason why I took on the program after Sung Shi Kyung-ssi had to leave, it’s not because of my friendship with him. But because I wanted to try it out and to be successful as a radio DJ.” “But at first I really felt the burden…” Alex said, because Sung Shi Kyung’s radio show was apparently very popular before. (Sung Shi Kyung is known to be one of Alex’s closest celebrity friends).
(But I do personally think Alex did a great job so far being a DJ, as it doesn’t always seem easy as it sounds. If you haven’t tried listening to DJ Al-goon, you might want to start now and be head-over-heels in love with his voice and his laughs… not to mention his songlist is OMG-fabulous. When you listen to the way he presents himself, his introduction can melt an iceberg, haha. Truly it can be magical somehow <3 and yes, I’m totally bias too, HAHA.)
Alex doesn’t expect a fair comparision between Sung Shi Kyung’s previous radio show and his “Blue Night” show, but nonetheless, he is ambitious to make it successful in his own way, by not treating it as a huge burden as he felt at first.
As Alex has grown to learn more about radio broadcasting, he has that special attachment to “Blue Night” itself. He said that doing a radio show can get as private and personal as it gets. “When you talk through the microphone, and you know your listeners are listening with their ears at the other end, it gives a special feeling to hear yourself talking, especially when this is a midnight show, starting from 12 midnight to 2AM in the morning.” as Alex explained his reasons.
He joked around and said that now his friends aren’t calling him pass 10 o’clock because they’d think he’s in the studio, preparing for his show. “Friends are disappearing at this rate…” he laughed. (lol, poor Alex. But no worries, Shinae is listening too, and so do we.)
(Best wishes for Blue Night!
I seriously never heard anything quite like it. And especially now after WGM aired that episode with Shinae and Alex at the studio, now every time I listen to his recordings, I always feel ‘connected’ with him through his voice and his laughs. Check out this thread for links to download his “Blue Night” episodes. I’ll post more links soon up until last night’s recordings.)

lol yep i agree! alex @ work = the best :D
thanx for the news and hope shinae is listening to the program every time :P
I know what you mean. I am miles away. In another country, another time-zone, another way of thinking. It is almost mid-morning here when his show begins. I am at work and I tune in on my computer. Most of the time, I can understand one word here another there ( I don’t speak korean).
But his laughter… his voice… his presence and knowing oneself linked to so many others… is a very unique experience.
I agree, if you haven’t tuned in try it.
Thanks for sharing so much in your blog, your pictures and updates mean the world to all of us who are so far away and so linguistically handicapped.
do u know what time the radio programe will be aired ?
