MBC “My Woman” and Tim
ay_link August 21st, 2008

For the past few days, I’ve been watching this fairly new MBC weekend drama (replacing La Dolce Vita), called 내여자 (My Woman). At first, I was eyeing this because of the casts (especially Park Jung Chul <3 and Park Sol Mi, since this drama is Park Sol Mi’s comeback drama after so long. Was it 2003? SBS “All In”, I think.)
But little did I know, this quite hottie-not-too-flashy-handsome-yet underrated “stone” prince (lol) with the name of Go Joo Won
Why the “stone”? Well, 내여자 “My Woman” is my first encounter with him, but from reading lots of ‘encouraging’ comments about his bad acting and whatnot, I’m sure those comments are meant as a constructive one. But I’d rather see it as there are rooms for improvements, but Go Joo Won is definitely not that bad. I’ve seen a lot worst, and they don’t come back to TV screens every now and then.
And after watching the first 6 episodes, though I can’t really point it out the single element of why I love this drama, but all the cast above (from left to right: Choi Yuh Jin, Go Joo Won, Park Sol Mi, Park Jung Chul) did one heck of a great job in potraying each of their characters. Script-wise, it is a bit shaky, but acting-wise and character-realization-wise, they nailed it. Choi Yun Jin is the perfect nagging, whiny bitch. The fiance-grabber, but her character is strong and very determined. She doesn’t waver and keeps her focus straight. Go Jo Won’s role is perfect for him in term of how he is potrayed as the smart, yet naive and stiff, and super nice guy… and did I mention naive? His character is quite different. It makes you think, “Is he that dumb? Gosh I wanna smack him silly!” LOL.
And I can go on and on and on about him, but I’d have to change the title as “My Man Go Joo Won” Hahahaha. JK! Park Jung Chul’s performance is also very different than his previous SBS drama, “Blue Fish”. Being the smart@ss baddie, playboy’ish guy suits him just fine~ :D And lastly, Park Sol Mi’s character is the heroine protagonist. Meaning that she’s the root of all problems. LOL. I still haven’t made my decision whether to hate her or sympathize with her.
What so good about 내여자 “My Woman” beside “The Drama” itself is the soundtrack. Its OST album seems to be very well-composed, classic and elegant. Of course, Tim’s voice is definitely added more plus points. His calm and soothing voice fits perfectly into theme song, “At the world’s end” (lyrics will be at the end of this post) *though Tim does remind me a lot of Alex. Both grew up outside of Korea, fluent in English, and both wear earrings :P*
The love theme song is called 세상 끝에서 (At the world’s end/At the end of the world). It tells a story of a guy, who falls madly in love with his girl, only losing her at the end but yet still waiting for her to come back. (First love never dies?) And the drama itself isn’t bad after all. Really surprised me as to how much I’m hooked on this one, when nothing seems to hold my interest these past few weeks, except “We Got Married” :D
So here we go, before I blabber too much about the drama itself - well, beside that it has all the intriguing elements a Korean drama can have - First love, Rich family business (they deal with shipyard - yes, shipyard. They build HUGE, BIG SHIPS. So can you imagine how rich they are? - Choi Yuh Jin and Park Jung Chul’s characters are siblings), and of course there are the element of Lust, Jealousy, Deception, and of course, Romance. 내여자 “My Woman” is for sure not your typical prime-time, weekdays K-dramas that have been airing these past few months.
MBC seems to have aired pretty strong dramas on the weekends, since “La Dolce Vita” was also a great one (in which I have yet to continue again, lol. Sigh~). This time, it’s another weekend drama, 내여자 “My Woman” which came as a total surprise for me since I didn’t expect it to be this captivating. Episode 1 was quite ‘boring’ when I was watching it half-asleep, but then the second time around, fully awake, I thought it wasn’t as boring as people said it was. And after that, I gulped down and did the marathon for all 6 episodes within 3 nights. No skipping at all :P So I’m up for the next one, whenever MBC decides to air it.
So, below is Tim’s MV for the drama. It’ll consist of clips from mostly the first two episodes, but I’d strongly recommend watching the drama first before watching this MV. Though there’s nothing wrong with the MV, especially if you don’t mind spoiler, it’ll be SO much better watching the drama first and knowing what it’s all about.
There are English subtitles available here for Episode 1-2 (I’m sure the subbing team is still working hard to sub the other episodes in timely matter.)

jeongmallo geuge jeonbuyeonni geu sigandeuri
Was that really all? Those times…
hamkkehalsuinneun sigandeuri
Those times that we were able to be together
naega eomneun geu gose saraseo deo joheungeoni
Are you happier to be living somewhere that I am not at?
neoui geu miso nan neomu sirheunde
But I don’t like that smile on you…
hanbeonjjeum nawa gateun saenggak hajinanheulkka
Wouldn’t you once share the same thought as me?
jamsiman meolli inneungeorago
That we’ll only be apart for a little while
jakku heuteojineun gieokdeureul butjapgo seoseo
I keep holding on to the memories that keep disappearing
doraol neoreul gidarigo isseo
I wait for you who will come back…
Pre-chorus
nareul itgo saneun neoui useumi miwoseo
Because I hate the way you forget me and continue to laugh
dwireul doraseobwado jinan chueogi boyeo
Even when I turn around, I see our past memories
geojitmalcheoreom areumdawotdeon sigandeuri
Those times that seemed like a lie because it was so beautiful
nal ireoke neon ulgehajanha
Like this, I make you cry
Chorus
neol saranghae… miwojilmankeum
I love you… to the point where I almost hate you…
hwaganalmankeum… gaseumi teojilmankeum….
To the point of getting angry… To the point of where my heart might burst…
sumeul swigo isseodo… saramcheoreom sarado
Even though I breathe… and live like a human being…
niga eomneun naneun naega aniya **
The me without you isn’t really me…
ichyeojiji anheulgeotgata neoui geu eolgul
I don’t think I’ll be able to forget your face
nal doraseodeon chagaun eolgul
That cold face that you turned your back with
geu sunganeul dasi tteoollimyeo jiuryeohaedo
I bring up that memory and try to erase it but
naneun ttodasi chueoksoge ppajyeo
I fall back into that memory
Pre-chorus
jabeulsuga eobseulmankeum neoreul wonmanghada
I hate you to the point of not being able to get it
dasi neoreul chatneun na, motgyeondige himdeureo
But the me that continue to look for you, is too hard
neol beoryeonaen geu jarie geuriumi chaolla
The part where I got rid of you continues to fill with sorrow
nae gaseumeun eonjena neojanha
My heart will always be you
Chorus
neol saranghae… miwojilmankeum
I love you… to the point where I almost hate you…
hwaganalmankeum… gaseumi teojilmankeum….
To the point of getting angry… To the point of where my heart might burst…

Even though I breathe… and live like a human being…

The me without you isn’t really me…
Bridge:
dorawa niga sesangkkeuteseo dasi nareul bulleojwo
Come back and call for me once more at world’s end

Tim’s voice is so good…and now you’re winning me over to watch this drama, for Go Joo-won I guess…btw this drama is actually a remake of MBC’s Terminal, which was aired during the 80s
Thanks for this. I truly appreciate you sharing the lyrics, romanization and translation. Makes this even more enjoyable, Thank you again!
@koalabear, hehe yeah.. now I’m curious about that MBC “Terminal” :D wonder if anyone actually still remembers the ending, who ended up with whom keke..
@sarang :) you’re welcome. Thank you for dropping by~
I agree with you about Go Joo-Won. I always enjoyed him in whatever drama he was in. he really is a hottie. I too am hooked on this drama. GW’s character is supposed to change so we’ll see. I don’t think his acting is too bad either, I have seen much worse.
The drama is starting to heat up, the photography, background and scenery is great and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.
tim.. i love u…and ur voice too.. ><
@renea2, glad to know someone is enjoying the drama beside myself. Hehe.
Totally agreed with you.. the scenery, the background, the settings (omg that mansion!) and now that the plot thickens, this is the one drama I’m totally hooked on now… ^^
Actually, Park Sol Mi starred in Golden Apple (황금사과) in 2005~6, so she hasn’t been gone from the drama scene THAT long. ;)
