NEVER in my life would I thought Sungie could do something ‘wild’ like this.

What? Rock Ballads?
Whatever it is, it sure darn workin’ so well for him! :D
I just knew his 3rd album will be so loved even by his antis, ha!

Whatever his picked-genre for this album is, that track 3 그대라서 (Because of you) definitely deserves ALL the attention. Watch his performance on SBS Inkigayo last night, if you don’t believe a word I’m saying now. But in the next few weeks, this album will totally bring the house down and topped all the music charts in the coming weeks. Shin Hye Sung’s fans all over the world must be going crazy right about now. HAHA.
Boy, oh boy. The calm singer, soft voice, balladeer Shin Hye Sung has officially being transformed.
Though I don’t consider myself as his fan (though I love SHINHWA), but this album will prove his versatility as an artist as well as the individual inventive singer. And get this, in the recent interview with 24 at a restaurant in Apgujeongdong, Seoul, the reporter asked him, “What is the reason for this transformation?”
And Shin Hye Sung answered, “Unlike ballads, rock music will always continue to have a future. And though I’ve always known as the ballad singer, I’d also want to experience to a wider sense of genre such as rock.” According to the news, this album will have 2 SIDES (2 parts), in which the first one seems to be inspired by British-pop/rock music, and the 2nd part will be released later on this year.
It would have been too ‘easy’ to comeback for this 3rd album if Shin Hye Sung picked to stay in his comfort zone, but the artist knew better, and I sincerely applaud him for that.

Having released his 2nd album, ‘The Beginning, New Days’ a year ago, Shin Hye Sung is now back with his 3rd album where he finally gets to experiment with the different kinds of musical genres that he’s been wanting to. His 3rd album will consist of 2 parts: Side 1 where Shin Hye Sung challenges different musical genres; and Side 2 where he returns to his trademark ballads. He will first release Side 1 - Live and Let Live, featuring different genres like alternative, Britrock, swing, and big band. Side 2 will focus on ballads, and will likely be released in December this year.
The title track, Because of You, was written by singer/songwriter Vink of the rock band N.E.X.T and former member of Wittgenstein, who had previously written Island from Shin Hye Sungs 2nd album. Together with lyricist Yoon Sara, this song - which is very appropriate for a magical autumn experience - was born. In addition, the song which carries a Brit rock feel to it, is likely to go down well with fans and music listeners with its catchy melody, strong guitar riffs and Shin Hye Sung’s unique vocals. Other artistes such as Wheesung, Yurisangja’s Park Seung Hwa, Wanted’s Kim Jae Suk, 2006 Miss Korea Honey Lee have also participated on this album, making each song special in its own right. Park Seung Hwa wrote and featured on the track Promise, and the harmony will be something different from the usual style of Yurisangja.
Shin Hye Sung said, “Like its title - Live and Let Live - the 3rd album aims to change my image of a ballad singer and I will challenge different musical genres in a style unique to Shin Hye Sung. I’m more nervous than ever and I know that the expectations from the fans will be very high too. I went about making this album with my best efforts so that I wouldn’t have any regrets after that. I hope that this album will be the best album that fans and the public will remember.”
Prior to the release of the album, 2 teaser videos have been released on 8th and 14th August, and as a result have heightened the anticipation of the fans more than ever. Interviews with Shin Hye Sung and the composers/lyricists will also be released on the official website from Aug 19 onwards.

good job hye sung! I was expecting some crazy hard rock song but I guess not… this soft rock works for him.. it would be kind of weird if he starts screaming at the top of his lungs… I think it would be nice if he picks up the guitar and start rockin’ his songs too.

Actually, with HyeSung doing ballad for some time now, I “was” expecting him to change it a little. Maybe some more upbeat, pop music. But, who would have thought, rock! Totally love the new album. Can’t wait to have it my hands!! I have “Awaken” and “Because of You” on repeat. :P
Yeah I wasn’t such a fan of his ballad songs back then but the rock ballads really sounds good! I think I’m becoming his fan right now. So thank u for sharing with us, otherwise I would have missed such a good artist! ^_^
