Alex on SBS SectionTV

Remember about a month ago, when MBC “Good Day” went with Alex to Canada and we got to meet his mom and family in Vancouver?
Well, something’s been bugging me ever since I watched that episode. And I also remember right after the show, there were some questions going around about Mr. Chu senior, a.k.a Alex’s dad.
There were no picture at all, and no mention of him during the program, and now, after watching and reading the news about the SBS SectionTV, the mystery is solved, by Alex himself.
Alex “My parents got divorced when I was a kid, and my mom raised me by herself…”
Alex appeared for about 10 minutes on SBS “SectionTV”, on “Who has met Jo Young Gu?” Corner yesterday Sept 3. The host, Jo Young Gu visited Alex with a birthday cake, and they had some BBQ together. Very casual meeting, yet it gives me the friendly, homey feeling while watching the episode. (See way down below for the cut file)
Alex, who has never confessed about the fact that his parents are divorced, frankly told the host about how he never got an allowance from his mom because she taught him that money you work for is the real money. (Great advice indeed.)
Alex said, “My mom raised me by herself while she was also working. When I think of her, I can’t do anything bad (like maybe commit a crime,etc.)… One day I went home drunk, and in my drunken state, I took my mom’s hand and told her I love her, but I noticed that her hand was like a man (from working hard)… it wasn’t as if it happened overnight, so why didn’t I realize it? and when I thought of that, I became so sad…”
Alex also said his childhood dream was to be owner of a japanese restaurant and to him being a singer is just pure luck. (Heh? Haha! I don’t know about pure luck, but he certainly has the gift of being a singer, that’s for sure!)
Then he talked about how in the past he wanted to marry early, and about the loneliness of living by himself. Alex said, “One day I went home during the day, and the house was calm and I was the only one moving. Nothing was moving and so I bought the robot cleaner (laughs) as to ease off that loneliness away.”
In the interview, the host mentioned about all those sweet events Alex did for Shinae on the show (WGM), and his response to this kind of question was, “People say that I do a lot of events but as it is my job as a singer to sing, so when they ask me to sing, I sing for them. And I used to be a sushi chef, so when I wake up I just make some foods. It’s not like I did something extravaganza like putting balloons in the truck or something…” (though I wouldn’t mind if Alex were to do this on WGM for Shinae. Hey, what girl would mind if a guy sweeps her off her feet? I know I won’t. What’s wrong with some cheesiness, I mean, romantic stuffs once in a while? ;) kekeke…)

May I just state that Mr. Chu is looking mighty fione with that new cut of his. In my opinion, he looks many years younger, though that isn’t possible, haha, cause he’s still young but he just looks younger.
As for his father, I’m not surprise that his parents divorced as many other celebs and other people in general have gone through having their parents divorce. I applaude Alex’s mom for raising such a great son and she’s done well with her other kids as well. She is a wonderful woman, though I don’t know her personally, I got the feeling that she is from when I saw her in the Good Day clip.
Is it just me or has Alex and Shin Ae been glowing lately? Hmmm… Mr. Chu? Ms. Cho? What are you two hiding???

Dearest Shenny thank you for your reply and this posting, Alex’s mum certainly deserved the respect from her three children. It’s also very lucky for her to see her children growing up healthy and successful. Especially for the popularity Alex have gained. As we’ve seen ShinAe during the interview in WGM mentioned that she have not given enough to return the favors of Alex. This would be a great opportunity for her to size by attending his first solo concert during the weekend if her schedule did not clash on the same date. Haiwaiting! Alex and ShinAe. Let’s hope to see them hug and kiss in WGM in the near future. Ha! Ha! Ha!

I also wondered about his dad and actually i’ve been guessing around that his parents have divorced. Well, i don’t know its something to be thank or not, ‘coz all things happened to alex shape him becoming amazing man and singer today. Good work alex’s mom!! He must be really loving his mom…
Me too do not mind seeing a guy does lot of event for his girl. Even cold hearted woman, actually, expect this kind of treatment from his guy, rite?? hehehe.

And I like his haircut also, looks fresh and cool.
I wasn’t surpriced that his parents are divorced as a good 80% of the couples worldwide, but I just got disappointed that such thing happened right to him.
But the important thing is that he grew up as a good person with conscious mind, thanks to his mum, she must be a woman for admiration.
and of course, he managed to learn how to be a good husband/partner and treat women, maybe the divorce was a good example for him to learn from.

Thanks, Ay_link, for the article and the dl link. For a moment there, i thought the tv host was Alex’s father. LOL! Ah, so the mystery is solved. I thought his parents might have been divorced since there were no photos of dear ol’ dad in his mom’s house. Aish, my hats off to his mom for single-handedly bringing up three kids all by herself. She did good though. I can see that Alex is very careful when it comes to spending his hard earned cash. You don’t see him indulging in extravagant gifts for SA or himself on WGM unlike the other ‘husbands’. Not sure if SA will like this aspect of Alex though. LOL! I think it’s our good fortune that he ends up being a singer rather than a restaurateur. (^_^) I hope SA really is the one for Alex if only to ease his loneliness and nothing else.

Now I understand why Alex really cherishes his family and why he has a very idealistic point of view when it comes to marriage. Reminded me of the WGM episode where he described the ideal family scene of a father watching/ reading the news, mom in the kitchen, 1 kid in his room and another coming home from school saying “I’m home”.
I’m glad Alex turned out to be a great man who is caring toward people. Big kudos to his mom for instilling the value of hard work in her children.

Thanks for sharing Shenny. It is really true that behind a successful man is a woman. My hats off to his mom. Take it from a single mom like myself, it’s hard to raise kids by yourself especially when you worry about taking care of them and at the same time putting food on the table. His mom must be really proud of him. No wonder he treats women well.

I was curious about his dad, though in the back of my mind I guessed it already. I’m glad he now put it all in the open, and how he can be at ease when talking about himself (loneliness, clean-freak, etc. lol).

But I’m also glad and happy that he turned out to be such a strong, caring, sensitive, understanding man who know how to appreaciate and treat a woman! ^^ Alex’s mom is such an admirable mother. How I wish AlShin get some help from Alex’s mom during this ‘parenthood’ episode… haha.. couldn’t it be cool to have another helping-hand with the triplets? :D

this has been bugging me for some time now: u know how netizens in kreah kept saying alex is overdoing the romance thing? I hv to disagree. Seems perfectly natural. I think he’s a very cool guy & I say this from a non-fan perspective. I feel he’s been regarded unfairly in this respect as they seem to be biased, preferring a certain stereotype. Hope my two-cents does not incite any animosity as no offence is intended ^ ^
