Some of you might be wondering right about now as to why on earth I’m posting about some random pianist. But for the piano lovers out there, this post might just be for you.
Her name is Noh Young Shim 노영심 and if you thought you’ve never heard her name before until now, well, guess again. Sure you have. Have you ever watched the superb SBS drama, “Bad Couple” starring Ryu Su Young and Shim Eun Kyung?
What about “Alone In Love” starring Son Ye Jin and Gam Woo Sung? (Btw, this drama is produced by her very own husband, Director Han Ji Seung. Read about her participation on her hubby’s movie production, 싸움 here.)
This one is from “Alone In Love“, sung by Sweet Sorrow – “No matter how I think, how much am I to you”
No matter how much i think To You…I Am – Sweet Sorrow
She’s truly wonderful, and I’m happy to have found her through the recent episode of Lee Hana’s Peppermint (Feb 6) where she was the first guest, accompanied Lee Hana on the grand piano for the first song entrance. (and Lee Hana sounds pretty good too!)
So, there we go. I was kinda surprised to find out who she is, and the excellent work that she has done through the drama soundtrack. Noh Young Shim 노영심 is the music director for “Bad Couple“, and now, while I’m listening to the OST again, especially for those instrumental tracks, I got goosebumps all over. She’s definitely the female version of Yiruma :)
And for the good news is that Noh Young Shim 노영심 will be participating in the soundtrack of SBS ‘왕녀자명고’ (Princess Ja Myung Go) I’m so looking forward for both the OST and the drama now ^^
Here is some of her performance from Lee Hana’s Peppermint
Noh Young Shim 노영심 performing her piece, “Love Affair”
^ truly magical. I was practically glued on my chair… love it!
And this one is “Moon River” – Noh Young Shim 노영심 uses her left hand on the grand piano and her right hand is on the pianika (the mini piano)
I’m definitely a new fan of her now :)
will need to dig in further and find more of her tracks and albums. ^^

Wow, thanks for the info.
Will definitely wait for KBS airing the delay show in my country.
Aside from Lee Hana’s MCing, at least the artists who come to the show are performing well.

I love the Moon River one, that looks so hard to do!
So did she compose the Sweet Sorrow song for Alone in Love, or play the piano part for it?

@fizzle She’s the music director for the whole soundtrack, so I’m 100% sure that she composed AND played as the pianist also :)

Hi Shenny,
Did you happen to have Noh Young Shim clip when she played the Peppermint song on piano? She called it Peppermint walk cause at the end part of the song, she made it like some people is walking…the song is so pretty after she played it on piano.
If you do, and if you don’t mind, can you share the clip? I’ve been looking at youtube, it seems no one upload it.
Thank you very much.

@gembul not sure which song you’re talking about. Is it the one that Lee Hana sang? The very first song?
I have the whole episode of Noh Young Shim in Lee Hana’s Peppermint… dated Feb 6, ‘09.
