With her comeback mini-album, Hwayobi is now on the spotlight of almost every news media. It’s not a big surprise when a singer has their new album, and doing its promo activities, she/he is bound to be on some articles and whatnot. And I’m somewhat happy to find this one short interview with Star News. (Kinda reminds me of Alex, last Summer, during all those glory days with “My Vintage Romance” and his involvement on “We Got Married” Gah~ I miss those happy times~ hehe)

Hwayobi’s comeback as a singer, appearance on WGM helps her music
After her farewell with Hwanhee on “We Got Married”, now she, Hwayobi (27) has returned successfully to her rightful position as an R&B singer.
Earlier this month, the sophisticated Hwayobi, released her mini-album and a new single, “Half” which marked her return in the music industry. It has been a year since she last had her latest 6th album last March 2007. For the last 6 months before, she participated on the MBC star’s wedding variety program, “We Got Married” as Hwanhee’s wife, which has earned her tons of fans’ supports from both Hwanhee’s and hers. They actually made such a great R&B couple with their own background as singers.
To mark and maybe commemorate her involvement in “We Got Married”, Hwayobi also produced a theme song for her coupling with Hwanhee (“Let’s Love”), along with her own composed song, “Half” which has received tons of positive supports from her fans.
Hwayobi mentioned that even though she was in the variety show, and got tons of love from people, it doesn’t change her main focus as a singer. She has been in love with singing and music ever since she was in elementary school, and her involvement in “We Got Married” with Hwanhee actually pushed her to create more music. And since it’d be hard to keep up with both, she chose to exit the program and concentrate on her album promo (same thing with Hwanhee because he also has his 8th album activities).
In the meantime, it has been her 10 years debut as a singer, so for now, her focus is with the album’s promotion and hoping to come back strongly as a singer with her “Half” (which is btw, a great piece. Suits her best, and really has her signature all over the music and the lyrics.) It took her hours to write the lyrics and composing the music for “Half”, but as soon as she completed the song, she knew that she wanted this song to be her title track.
“So far the songs I’ve written and composed are mostly ballads and R&B. For ‘Half’, the beat and rhythm of the song mix together to fit the mood. And I hope people would say, “Oh, this is definitely Hwayobi’s song!” she said it with a big smile on her face.
Last time, on the final episode of We Got Married, she invited one of her best friends, Lyn and Gummy to eat together with her and Hwanhee. According to Hwayobi, they were having such a great time, and laughed a lot, as her friends teased Hwanhee and her as if they both were an actual married couple. They had noticed her nickname as “dog-poopie”, which has become sort of an ‘icon’ and nickname for her and her character. When asked, “So, is this Hwayobi’s real character when she acted as Hwanhee’s 개똥이? She answered, “I would actually get attracted to a guy with few words (like Hwanhee, ehm~), rather than those who talk a lot.” as she smiled brightly. (This can easily be interpreted as she did have that ‘crush’ on him for real during their time on WGM… woohoo~~)
Lastly, Hwayobi expressed, “In the past, the attention has always been because of my involvement with Hwanhee on the show, but if the opportunity comes, I would want to do something else like performing in an art show program, or acting in a movie.” (She also told Kim Jung Eun that she’d love to be in Kim Ki Duk’s movie. Hm, interesting~)
