It seems like they went so fast with the process of this Japanese drama remake of “Kekkon Dekinai Otoko”. Yesterday, full cast have gathered up and in less than a month, ‘결못남’ (shorten for ‘결혼 못하는 남자’ Man who cannot get married) will be airing on KBS2 TV, following “The Slingshot” (“Story of a man”). And if my calculation is correct, ‘결못남’ will be airing on June 15 for Monday-Tuesday drama on KBS2.

Full cast of ‘결못남’ (‘Gyeolmotnam’) gathered up for script rehearsal & a press conference

Located in Yangpyeong, Seoul at Selah Hotel & Resorts, the main crew and cast gathered up for the very first time. They also held a small press conference with the media and press to give some insights about this upcoming drama, ‘The Man Who Can’t Get Married’ – from Japanese drama adaptation, “Kekkon Dekinai Otoko”

Each of the main cast got a little interview to talk about their character, including PD Kim Jeong Gyu.

Ji Jin Hee, “I feel the burden…”

“It is a very popular drama”

According to KBS 2TV new drama, “The man who can’t get married”, Ji Jin Hee told the press that he felt the burden as the main character to this Japanese remake drama.

“The man who can’t get married” / Kekkon Dekinai Otoko first aired in Japan 3 years ago on FujiTV.  The original drama was a complete hit as it won a few drama awards from the Japanese TV drama awards.   Because of this, Ji Jin Hee said, “Since this drama was a very popular one in Japan, I feel the burden.  The original character done by Abe Hiroshi was a handsome man but has his own comical side. So it is a burden to play the character correctly and perfectly.” “Fortunately, people will not be seeing the exact same thing as this is a remake. And a lot of portions from the original show will be implemented differently, though we’ll still have some similar parts.”

Ji Jin Hee’s character, Jo Jae Hee is a very complex man, cold but also warmth inside.  He is an excellent architect, with such a talent and skills in what he does.  Though he lives alone, and appeared to have no problem being single.

“I can’t get married?” is a question received without stress, “But why is it?”.  He (his character) talks about it in style. “It’s not that I can’t get married, but I chose NOT to get married.”

Ji Jin Hee mentioned about Kim Myung Min’s character in MBC ‘Beethoven Virus’ also has the same style, as he was a perfectionist in what he does.  “To give a style in such a complex yet comical character will be an interesting challenge for me. The feeling is very unique,” he said.

PD Kim Gyeong Gyu shared his opinion and explained about the main character, “This will be a new turn for Ji Jin Hee. He’s very comical. Comical, as well as very humanly.”

“The man who can’t get married” will broadcast in June. Starring Ji Jin Hee, Uhm Jung Hwa, Kim So Eun and Yang Jeong Ah.

Uhm Jung Hwa, “This drama will bring a lot of sympathy”

“I will show my light charm”

The actress said at the press conference yesterday around 4 pm, Selah Hotel & Resorts, Yangpyeong area.

Uhm Jung Hwa said, “I’ll be playing the role of a physician, Jang Mun Jeong in this drama. She’s lively and has warm personality as well as very reserved.” Then she continues, “She has a positive mindset, but has closed her heart for love until she met Jae Hee (Ji Jin Hee).  In addition to become a real man, he’ll then meet her and turn into a different man after learning how to love and be kind to others.”

“Single people of my age will feel the sympathy for my character in the story.” and she also said that “the feeling for this drama is not too hard.  I also have the same feeling as my character, so it’ll all passed up well.” in addition to what her expectations are for this drama.

The PD in-charge for this drama is PD Kim Jeong Gyu.  He said, “This drama will bring comforts and fun rather than being serious and depressed.  I want the characters to give warm hopes to the viewers.”  “In the Japanese original, I love how parents deal with emotional problems, but also with some comedy aimed right on it.  I wish for this show to bring pleasure and comfort to those who watch it.”

Kim So Eun, “Acting older gives me more pressure”

Kim So Eun will take on the role as Jeong Yu Jin, a mid-20 office worker who happens to be also the next door neighbor of Jo Jae Hee (Ji Jin Hee).

She said during the script rehearsal that she has her worry to play such an older character. In “Boys Over Flowers”, she played as a high school student, so the difference between characters makes her uneasy.

Kim So Eun said she has watched the original drama, and hopes that the Korean version will do very well also.

Yang Jeong Ah, “The intelligent image I fit in…”

Yang Jeong Ah will be Jo Jae Hee’s colleague/partner at work. She’s smart, sophisticated and knows her way around her clients.  This intelligent image she’ll potray seems to fit her own personality.

Ji Jin Hee’s character will be surrounded by 3 single ladies from different ages, and through them he’ll learn how to love in this romantic comedy aired in mid-June.

Dan Ji, “My scandal with Lee Min Ho… I’m really grateful!”

Former actress (Goong) and VJ Dan Ji (26) talked about her scandal with hottie Lee Min Ho (23).  When asked about the scandal, he just answered with a smile, “I’m flattered.”

“I was just asked about my scandal with Lee Min Ho.  I’ve known him since high school. I was in senior high school and he was my junior. He’s like a real (younger) brother to me.” she answered to clear up the rumors.

When the scandal first told, she wasn’t aware until her agency called her to confirm.  Within just a few months, Lee Min Ho raised to stardom, and it’ll feel good to have a ‘famous’ friend like him. “I felt like congratulate him for his success. So when I get a chance later, I’d like to treat him to a meal. Or maybe he can buy me some since I’m older than him… (laughs)” she joked.

In “The man who can’t get married”, Dan Ji will play as one of the nurses at the hospital, Kim Yeon Su.  “Though I don’t have a big role in this drama, I’d still want to give the drama a cheerful atmosphere with my character.” she added cheerfully.
