The upcoming Wed-Thursday drama, ‘태양을 삼켜라’ (Swallow The Sun) has just made a new announcement last yesterday about their pilot episode. It was supposed to air this Wednesday, replacing the just-ended “City Hall” last week, but fans would have to wait a day to actually watch the beginning of this series. Would they live up to viewers’ expectation and surpasses its predecessor “City Hall”? We shall wait and see this Thursday! ^_^

“Swallow The Sun” production team says “Public health is our top priority”

What caused them the delay just 2 days before the date of airing? Apparently, according to some health authorities, they advice the production team to delay their schedule. A new flu has been known to show its symptoms among the production crew members, forcing them to make an announcement to change the airing date.

Yesterday, July 6 (Korea time), SBS announced it through an official press conference that it is recommended by health authorities that their staffs are to get a new flu shot to prevent any outbreak that could endanger the public health. It seems that SBS took this very seriously and announced that a special will be airing on Wednesday, July 8 to replace the supposedly-airing first episode.

On June 14, “Swallow the sun” production team left South Korea to Las Vegas, U.S. and two days before they were done with all the shooting, some of the crew members got some cold and fatigue. So before leaving the country, they got tested and turned out to be positive. As soon as they arrived in Incheon airport, the infected crew members are quarantined.

Three days after they finished shooting in U.S., all the crew members were to get their flu shots right away. While the infected ones voluntarily checked in to Jeju island health center while being treated there. As a result of this, they had to halt the shooting around 3 pm on July 6. Now, another three staffs are currently staying at the Medical Center in Jeju island.

Therefore, “Swallow the sun” production team decided to have a delay, as it is more important to keep the public health as priority although they have to stop shooting as a precaution. They would have to make the special from some shooting footnotes in order to present the viewers with some introduction about the drama itself for Wednesday night’s timeslot.

On July 8, “Swallow the sun” Special will be broadcast, pushing a day delay for its pilot episode airing on Thursday, July 9 at 9:55PM on SBS.
