News like this always makes me jealous. Why, you ask. Well, for one thing, musical from outside of the U.S. would stay outside, especially when it comes to Hwang Jung Min’s musical projects. Sigh. And now, they two of them will be working together too? Double Sigh.

Hwang Jung Min & Park Gun Hyung, double-casting for musical “Wedding Singer”
In 1998, Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore starred in the Hollywood movie, the “The Wedding Singer“, then in 2006, Broadway made a musical after this very own movie. Now, 3 years later, Korea takes the new challenge. Movie A-list actor, the talented Hwang Jung Min (Accidental Couple) and fellow actor Park Gun Hyung (Kingdom of the wind) are the two main leads for the Korean version of “Wedding Singer.”
Both of these actors have earned their experience through movies and musical shows. Park Gun Hyung debuted from musical “Saturday Night Fever”, then onto his role as the dance instructor in “Innocent Steps”, opposite of Mun Geun Young. His latest drama was the KBS2 sageuk, “Kingdom of the wind”. As for Hwang Jung Min, his credibility is endless. The guy can practically do anything “musical” with his excellent skills in acting and singing. It’ll be a great opportunity for Park Gun Hyung to learn from the best.
In the musical “Wedding Singer”, at first both of their characters dream of becoming famous composers, but life takes on and they become the wedding singers, just like how “Robbie Hart” (Adam Sandler’s character) was in the 1998 movie. As for the two ladies from the movie, Yoon Gong Ju will play as Julia Sullivan (Drew Barrymore’s character), and Kim So Hyang will play as Holly, Julia’s bestfriend.
In addition to the cast, they have also cast Lee Pil Seung, Park Jeong Pyo, and Ryu Seung Ju to bring out the musical of “The Wedding Singer” more alive and spectacular. A musical that has a hint of both romance between dream and reality, with joyous journey to find true love, accompanied along with the love of true disco music and passionate dance performances, adds up with gorgeous costumes to go along to make it to one spectacular musical stage.
If you happened to be in Korea, or Seoul, South Korea to be exact this upcoming November – January 2010, see if you can get a scoop on this new musical. Musical “Wedding Singer” will open the door starting November 24 up to January 31 ‘2010, in Chungmu Art Hall musical theater.
