Sohn Ye Jin & Jang Dong Gun pair-up for new movie
Actress Sohn Ye Jin joined the cast of top movie director Kang Jae Gyu’s Hollywood debut movie, according to the film producer on Thursday. Sohn Ye Jin will be paired up with hallyu A-list star, Jang Dong Gun in the film tentatively titled as “My Way”, which is based on the Invasion of Normandy during World War II.
Sohn Ye Jin will play the role of a woman who agonizes over her love for a Korean man and a Japanese man who both fight in the war. According to rumors from close sources, the director had met with Japanese actor Takuya Kimura for the war epic, but no additional details have been announced.
A Hollywood production company has agreed to invest in the movie by Kang, which has often dubbed as the Steven Spielberg of East Asia. Kang has produced many Korea’s top movies including the 1999 hit “Swiri” and 2004 epic “Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War” (3rd place in box office history).
“My Way” will be Jang Dong Gun’s 2nd time working together with Director Kang after 6 years. Jang Dong Gun was the main lead for 2004 epic movie “Taegukgi”. They’re planning to start shooting the movie this coming June, which includes various overseas locations including Korea, Germany and China.
