Kang Ji Hwan to star in new SBS drama “Page One”

According to the drama producer’s Core Contents Media on Friday, actor Kang Ji Hwan has been cast to play as “Jin Soo”, the male leading role in upcoming SBS drama “Page One”.

He was chosen because of his impressive portrayal in his movies, “My Girlfriend is an Agent” and “Rough Cut”, said Core Contents CEO Kim Kwang Soo in their press release. “We have determined that the actor’s recent controversy with his former agency is not an issue”, CEO Kim explained, as he addressed the ongoing legal spat between the two parties over the actor’s working contract.

This will mark Kang Ji Hwan’s comeback on TV after 2 years. His leading lady, Park Shi Yeon will be playing the role of a publication house CEO who Jin Soo has an undefinable relationship with.

The drama will be directed by PD Pyo Min Soo (“Full House”; “Worlds Within”), and will begin shooting early this month to set its premiere date (some time in May) replacing “Oh! My Lady”.

Kang Ji Hwan announced not too long ago that he has joined a new agency, but apparently things aren’t going too well for him with his previous agency. Here’s the complete news.

Kang Ji-hwan may face lawsuit by former agency

Actor Kang Ji-hwan is on the verge of being sued by talenthouse Jambo Entertainment which claims Kang signed a contract with a new agency although his current contract with Jambo is valid for several more months.

Kang’s new agency, S Plus Entertainment, had announced through a press release last Friday that they had signed with the 32-year-old actor. Kang had reportedly sent a contents-certified letter last month to Jambo, asking to be freed from his contract to which he is legally bound till August this year.

“The statement by another company regarding Kang shows he has signed a dual contract which is violation of the terms of agreement mentioned in our exclusive contract with him,” Jambo stated in a press release later in the day.

They hinted toward taking legal action, saying that they will take the appropriate measures after consulting their legal advisor.

Jambo also expressed their disappointment toward the actor whom they had worked with for six years. “We had never imagined he would cut off all communication and leave us like that. It saddens us to think he couldn’t wait a mere eight months.”

Regarding the actor himself, Jambo said, “He was a good well-mannered and passionate… The person we see right now seems like a stranger.”

I’ve been watching “Be Strong Geum Soon” starring Han Hye Jin and Kang Ji Hwan lately. Yeah, better late than never. Kang Ji Hwan is such a great actor. This new agency would be so lucky to have him on board.

Korean actor Kang Ji-hwan has signed with a new agency, according to a press release by S Plus Entertainment on Friday.

I mean, black… all black. Everyone seems to be wearing black this month, starting from all the “IRIS” cast for their ‘official’ press conference, and now, the black attendees for PIFF (Pusan International Film Festival) 14th. I love black too, but this is really something else. Black is the new Fall color? Grim is the way to go? lol… dunno~ but everyone would look good in black, no matter what.

Oooh~ this is an interesting news.
I’ve been following “Style” closely ever since it started last week, and didn’t realize that the director is actually the same person who directed “사랑할 시간” “90 days time to love” (or whatever the English title is), PD Oh Jong Rok. No wonder Kang Ji Hwan accepted the offer right away ;)

Kang Ji Hwan’s cameo appearance on SBS “Style”

Famous actor Kang Ji Hwan will make a surprise cameo appearance for the newly aired SBS drama “Style” (starring Kim Hye Su, Ryu Shi Won, Lee Jiah, Lee Yong Woo). On August 10, he visited “Style” shooting location to pay a visit to PD Oh Jong Rok and immediately accepted his request to be a cameo. Due to their close friendship from the 2006 drama, “90 Days A Time To Love”, Kang Ji Hwan has agreed to do the favor.

According to Kang Ji Hwan, he had so much fun watching the drama, so he wanted to come by to cheer and support PD Oh. He hasn’t met the director in a while and it was such a great meeting that he just had to agree to his request to appear on “Style”.

Kang Ji Hwan will show up at this company party for “Style” magazine, where his role is to be this ‘famous actor’ / movie star (*giggle* so basically we’ll see him as himself? Nice~)
